Default NYC train doors closed on my head. I have some questions

Hi guys. Today NYC train doors closed on my head. I feel disoriented right now. No headache but just dizzy and out of it. Very foggy. I've had some concussion history.

My question is do you think these train doors produce enough of a g-force for me to have a legit concussion? Or am I just overreacting and experiencing some symptoms that will probably go away soon or after I sleep it off?

Thanks so much

Rolex2311,

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

I doubt you suffered a concussion. The doors would be designed to not cause enough impact force to cause such an injury.

But, you may have twisted your neck and combined with the anxiety from the startle trauma of the event, symptoms could result. You might ice your neck if you feel any strain.

Thank you for replying

I slept but woke up still feeling disoriented :/

But I have no headache, nausea, or other symptoms. At what point should I go to my doctor? I'm pretty busy the next few days?

I don't think a doctor visit would help. There is nothing to treat. Doctors almost never recognize the subtle neck strains from events like this. Try to take care of your neck with good posture, especially when sleeping. Avoid or moderate excessive or stressful activities. Yeah right. You live in NYC, but try anyway.

You'll be fine if you just have a bit of patience.

Maybe some massage or phys therapy for the neck, if self help/home care for the muscles isn't enough..
