Default First NUCCA chiropractor visit thoughts

Hello all, I was curious if anyone here has gone to a NUCCA Chiro for adjustments that have relieved some symptoms? I had my first visit yesterday and the experience was rather odd. In Nov. 2017, I had a syncope event two weeks after spinal fusion of c5-c6 falling and hitting my head. Symptoms came in in the following weeks and while I got cognitive mostly back, and feel better, I still have blurred vision 24/7, tinnitus 24/7 and some dizzy spells with no vertigo.

At the consult appt., she explained the process and I pre-paid $1000 for the first visit with xrays and four additional visits and I stated if I don't see some of the symptoms modulated at least a little bit after 5 visits, I would not continue.

Yesterday I had the xrays and the software package, which is quite interesting, said I had a 2 degree tilt up on the right side of Atlas causing a head tilt to the left. I notice I do tilt to the left. Also noticed I have forward curve on the spine which my primary doc just picked up as well in their xray 2 weeks ago.

So she had my lay on my left side on an adjustable table that can raise or lower just the head. In a certain position she went through about 25 repetitive motions of applying VERY light pressure behind my ear lobe to what she calls Atlas C1 I think. Took another set of xrays and said it was a perfect adjustment. Usual leg lengths checked and standing on a platform that measures hip heights and weight on each foot. I left after that.

My concern is she talking about continuing for many months to get the adjustment to "Hold" if needed which will be very costly. After the adjustment, I haven't seen any changes but also realize everything in my world of recovery has not been fast so accept it may take time.

I really feel the neck is a factor in these symptoms for some reason. Getting out of bed yesterday, I tilted my chin to my chest and received an immediate headache in that position just another tip pointing that way is my thought process.

Just wanted to check in and see if anyone has had any experience good or bad with this kind of Chiropractor treatment?

David

I didn't do any pre pay and my chiro didn't do any fancy x rays, he just did the leg & hip, shoulder checks. But I think he did a very good job for me.. also did soft tissue work on my neck & upper back muscles..
If you have neck muscle tension or do some jerky extreme movements the adjustment can get changed, so a few return appts can be needed..
If they aren't doing anything else for muscle tension, I think that is a mistake..

I've seen good results with NUCCA. Noticable tilt like you describe pointed out by another Physio before the NUCCA Chiro.

From what Ive observed it will "hold" after around a couple of months. I think I paid 45$ per visit. did a coulple of visits a week for the first 2 or 3 months. after that once a month then very infrequently.

Sounds like a scam to me. I went to one. Told everything out of aligned.

Why then when I get MRI 4 years later it shows nothing?

The chiro guy made me feel very flush and off. Waste of $ for me but maybe there are good ones out there.

I do appreciate the input from all of you. I'm trying to keep positive thoughts on this treatment. Very different than the "normal" medical treatments I have had. Have another Appt today and it's about 3 hours of driving round trip for a 15 minute appt. If it helps at all, it will be worth the effort. Thanks again!

johnsmith, Sorry for the slow reply. I've been to the NUCCA Chiro four times now. My last appt. is next Tuesday. Unfortunately I don't have much for change in symptoms. All this Chiropractor does is perform a measurement where I step on a scale and she weighs each foot. Then you lay down and she aligns your shoes together to see if there is misalignment between your feet. If so, she has you lay on your side and does some odd very light compressions on ear lobe then rechecks everything. No soft tissue work or anything else and it's 100.00 per visit. My dizziness is less now but I can't really say she caused that.

Since my injury on 11/17, things have changed a lot. For the first two months I was in hell with severe brain fog, dizziness, insomnia, vision blurred, ringing ears and bad anxiety. I couldn't drive or go to work. The brain fog has mostly lifted, I get 6-7 hours a night sleep (Without Clonazepam or any other sleep aids which didn't happen before) . I still have vision issues, ringing ears and occasional dizzy spells.

I had two MRI's last week one for the brain and the other my neck as it is still acting up as I had spinal fusion on c5-c6 on 10/17. Both MRI's came back negative which I am happy and sad about. Basically I am still reaching like you for ways to fix myself. I've been to many different doctors. While very frustrating, I am slowly coming to terms that this takes time. Hang in there!
