Frown Permament damage from jumping down on matress?

A few months ago i sustained a serious concussion by sitting half erect in my bed and then throwing my body back into the bed. Unfortunately i threw myself too hard so instead of hitting my bed i hit a cast iron radiator behind the bed . Now thats bad enough on its own, but the worst part is that 10 days after the incident i was so frustrated about my injury, that i tried to determine the speed of which i hit the radiator with, thus i reenacted the throw, but this time i made sure to hit my matress instead of the radiator.

Afterwards i felt a little bit sleepy and as though i zoned a little bit out - i would compare the symptoms to the symptoms you recieve when heading a soccerball at moderate speed.

Anyway im really worried that this might have destroyed my brain and lead to substantial organic damage and i cant stop beating myself up over the fact that i was so stupid. It just never occured to me that it indeed is possible to gain a concussion from something which ssemingly should have been a low force impact.

" destroyed my brain and lead to substantial organic damage"
A bump like that can be painful and cause some problems, take it a bit easier for awhile , maybe get some neck PT or gentle chiropractic or upper cervical adjustment...
Did you ice your head right away, I'm guessing you got quite a lump on your head..

the squirrel,

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

The test onto the bed likely just cause a relapse of symptoms and was not a new concussion. You likely suffered an upper neck injury the first time and re-aggravated the unhealed injury. Think of it like bumping a bruise. The bump can be much less than the original cause of the bruise but the bump can feel worse than the original bruise.

You did not do substantial organic damage. You can damage your brain obsessing about this. The stress chemicals from obsessing are rough on even a healthy brain.

If you have been playing soccer and routinely heading the ball, stop heading the ball. This concussion has created extra sensitivity. either a weak neck or sensitive brain or both.

Thanks for responding - your answers calms me down a bit. If i had done this prior to my concussion i would not have been worried at all, but due to the close proximity i was worried that the shake of the brain might have been enough to sustain permanent damage due to a destruction of already bruised neurons.

Do you guys know how many G's such an impact might create?

At the start of the motion my head was 1 m above the matress, it took me 0,5 s to reach the matress - and the matress gave 5-7 cm before my head bounced back. It was a circular motion as my head kind of traversed a quarter of a circle from the initial erect position to the horizontal matress.

Anyways ill stop worrying and get on with my life. Thank you.
