Default Is there anything to do immediately after a whiplash injury?

I was standing in the bus yesterday. We were driving at a moderate speed and the driver braked very suddenly to avoid a danger - so abruptly that two passengers fell down. I did not hit anything but my body violently jerked forward and then backward. Since then I am experiencing an intensification of my post-concussion symptoms, but also an intense neck pain which I did not have before. The neck pain is located at a spot which was sore when the chiro was treating my upper neck. She told me that this spot was related to "C0 dysfunction" and might contribute to my headaches.

On this board I have learned that this kind of events probably has more to do with the neck than with the brain. Is that correct? Is there anything I can do in the short-run, apart from icing the neck? Is it a good idea to take anti-inflammatory meds now?

Thank you.

I would ice, use anti-inflammatories and find a comfortable place to lay flat with good head and neck alignment if you need to rest. If you have muscle spasms, warmth on the muscle may help to reduce the spasm. Use cold on the bone/joints to reduce ligament strain swelling. .
