Default Vision Issues - 7 months

Hi guys,

I am 7 moths post concussion. While I have improved a lot since then, I still have several symptoms daily- most annoyingly, vision problems.

I have been to a behavioural optometrist and I am doing vision therapy at home for the past two months. However, I have not seen much improvement regarding my vision issues (I might just need to be a bit more patient). I have astigmatism (that might explains some symtoms) and I am short-sighted.

My most annoying vision issues are:

_After images. Basically, when I look at something, esp light, even for just a few seconds, I see the after images of that thing. I went to a public lecture a couple of days ago and i found out that when i scanned my eyes across the big projection, flash of rainbow light appeared. When I wave my phone around in the dark, I can see trails of images following the phone.

_Visual noise/ snow is still present 24/7.

_Spikes, halos coming out of light. This is especially annoying at night and make biking much much harder.

_Depth perception. I believe this is the major vision issue for my brain atm. I find my vision issues worse when it is dark, overcast compared to sunny days.

The optometrist said it is because my brain and eyes have to work more during such condition, and they can't distinguish depth easily, causing fatigue. 3D repeated patterns make it harder to my brain to process. Consequently, everything seems off. He tried glass but eventually, he couldn't do anything to help me.

_Processing difficult/ moving images become much harder. It causes a mild headache at the back of my head.

_I feel like I am a bit more clumsy walking and navigating space as well. This might be a vestibular problems. However, I have done vestibular therapy.

I am working full-time, using the computer fine at work. There are subtle vision issues while working; nothing bothers me too much, though. I can read books alright. I notice my eyes can wander off the words after a while though.

One theory is that my vision issues can come from my neck. I have treated my neck with a physio. I believe it was gentle trigger points during the first few treatments then twisting the neck for the last treatments. However, I still feel like my neck is not fixed. I am having a second opinion from another physio next week. I still feel some tightness, pain at the base of my skull. My neck cracks when I move it around.

I went to a chiro and was told that I have C1, C2 subluxation into the brain stem causing symtoms. However, after listening to the intensive and long-term treatment plan and a twist-and-pop-the-neck, I feel like it wasn't the right thing for me.

Does anybody experience such vision symptoms? Do they get better through time? What should I do?

What do you do to protect your upper neck from trauma and inflammation when you sleep?

Hi Mark,

I sit with my head and neck straight. I'm on ibuprofen every day now. I have a good vitamin regiment. I don't use ice packs for my neck. The physio said that it was just liament got inflamed when the weather was cold that brought up my neck pain and headacheas. None specialists have established that my neck problems can cause vision issues and sleep issues.

Regarding sleep, I'm trying to sleep flat, with my head and neck straight. I can still turn to both sides during the night though. I don't know how to correct that.
