Angry Out of options

My daughter received a bat to her head, she lost consciousness for a brief period, in April of 2016. Four months later she had a soccer ball hit to her head, this time it blew her eye( reacted different to light, she was told she suffered another concussion) a year later she had someone take her feet out from behind her and she fell straight on her face.

IN the past 2 years she has had physical therapy, acupuncturist, chiropractic(also cervical)decompression surgery, ton of pills, nerve block, massage and nothing has helped. She has had a headache everyday since April. Her pain in normally at a 5 but any stressor will put her at an 8. In January this year she tried to take her own life.

She has said the pain every day is not worth it. Somme times there is a lot of pressure and sometimes its a stabbing sensations. I don't know what else to do for her. Every time she leaves the house I worry. Her quality of life is not the same. She has memory problems. She has been in counseling and they say they can't help her because she is not depressed, just in so much pain.

I am thinking maybe a lumbar puncture might help with the pressure and maybe see if she has a leak. I know one of the MRI showed a small patch of fluid but it was not anything that they thought would cause anything so it went unchecked. I feel I am out of options. Does anyone have anything that has helped them?

Maybe start fresh with full work up & new drs? Don't assume it is all related to the concussions. Could be something unrelated..
If nothing is found and other causes or possible illness are ruled out..
Was it Upper cervical chiropractic or regular chiro that you tried?
How old is she?
Is the pain from the headaches or specific location of head or neck?

tmhirz,

Welcome to NeuroTalk. Sorry to hear about your daughter's struggles.

It appears she needs better diagnostics so she can split her different symptoms between the different specialties and a plan to moderate her risk of further injury.

A Neuro Psychological Assessment would be worthwhile to understand her mental functioning. Her memory functions can then be documented.

Has she ever been examined by a Physiatrist (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) MD, especially a Physiatrist connected to a Neuro Rehab hospital? Neuro Rehab hospitals are also a good place to find a Neuro Psychologist to do an assessment related to her head injuries.

Do pain meds help with her pain? How about anti-inflammatory meds? Botox in her upper neck?
