Default Need neurologist.

Hi. Workers comp has paid a high profile neurologist to lie about my condition. He said I am malingering, didn’t try on the tests he gave me, exaggerate my symptoms. He said Ive never had a brain injury. That leaves me cut off from any income. Theres no way I can hold a job. I cant drive. I tried to get my address updated on my drivers license, and the BMV confiscated it because of my condition. I am in desperate need of a neurologist who is current on PCS and can HELP me so I can have my life back, and then go back to work. I would love that. I need a neurologist who can say more than “we’ll see how your doing next time”. Anyone know of a neurologist who understands the few of us who dont recover? I am at the point where I am willing to travel anywhere in the US for help.

W comp plays that game quite often... with all kinds of injuries..
1. Do you have a very good atty on your side..??
One that can help find the good drs to help prove your side of the claim..?

It may be simpler to say the name of the state you are in as laws of WC might be different in other states/areas..
A well known highly ranked DR is very helpful.

We have a WC forum with info in the sticky threads, and past posts will show how WC plays the game.. knowledge is power...

If you are disabled and cannot work at all. you can look into SSDI too...
apply for SSDI and use that time for healing ?
we have a forum for that with sticky threads..

I’m in Illinois. My attorney is not helping me with anything. He says I need to find a good neurologist. They threw the workers comp nurse off my case right away almost two years ago. That might be good in some ways, but no one is directing my care. Myself or my wife sure cant do it. We dont even know where to start. No improvement in a year and a half. No treatment approved by WC in almost a year. It’s criminal, but business as usual for them.

Well most of the time your attorney know best?....I would talk to a few and maybe think of change....I used GWC many years ago...

WC is a joke in all 50 states, thats why you need representation!

I really need help with the legal aspects of my injury. Workers comp has cut me off. They hired a neurologist with 5 pages of credentials after his name to lie for them and say that I am malingering. Any one who knows me finds that laughable. I had an extremely demanding job, extremely demanding hobby, in addition to being a husband, dad, grand dad, homeowner, active in church, etc. I used to attend church 3 times a week. In the two years since the accident, I have been to church 4 times with great difficulty. I have never owned an easy chair or a TV. Now, my work is gone. My hobby is gone. I sold my WWII tank and halftrack. Living history reenactments were my passion. I couldn’t no longer work on or drive the vehicles. I sold my ranch to move to a more secluded, quieter place. I would love to work, and be busy again, not sit in a chair and try to make sense of what’s going on around me. The IME made it sound like I’ve been on a two year vacation. It’s been two years of hell. I am desperately in need of someone in the medical field who can say with authority that there is something wrong with me, and prove it with some test results. The way things are going, I’m sunk. I’m going to lose everything. The IME went so far as to say that I was never injured, leaving it open for the insurance company to sue me for everything they have paid so far. My attorney is a joke, trivializing my condition, and putting the burden of proving my case on me. Ive pretty much given up on any further recovery at this point. Dr. Zalinski has helped some with my vision, but thats it. Has anyone had testing that can prove mild TBI and the horrible PCS that some of us have? Like I said before, I will travel anywhere in the US for a doctor who knows what is going on.

Im am not surprised that WC is just finding another way to make life harder....I was cut off $ many times, and lawyer would see a judge and get them reinstated.

What is confusing me is the Dr. only reads reports from your therapy team?....They would be the ones saying this on reports that the Dr. reads?

So did you have a Neuropsyc test for baseline early on?

I find more questions than answers with your post....Have you had someone call othe attorneys for a second opinion?

I dont understand about the doctor reporting. I dont have a doctor who reports anything. I dont have a therapy team. I had a neuropsyke 3 months in. He said I had significant impairment, but he also said I was lying, and didn’t try. Ive been calling other attorneys. It seems like all they’re interested in is the big kill at the end. No one is willing to help me along the way.

There is 2 sides (maybe more) to your dilemma..
The WC/legal part & finding help for the health/healing part of things..

If finances allow you could try to focus on some self help or alternative care that you find on your own.. thus if you areen't seeing improvement you can stop & find another to try...no waiting on a DR to approve or make a change..
Suggestions- expert upper cervical / chiropractic/ expert PT - often the neck is a factor with some symptoms, the vitamins/supplements in the sticky thread..

Was your WC case closed & final, or just the usual standard denial after a generally biased IME report? You can appeal that, but helps to have a better atty on your side.
tip- Get copies of all reports.. and make notes & corrections if atty doesn't ask you what is true and not..
I found that tip later after my case..

It does come down to if injury was on the job AND if any lingering symptoms are due to the original injury...That can be the hardest part to prove.. the "invisible injury after effects" witnesses to the incident and letters from others that can attest to how active you were.. might help or convince atty to help you more..

Put together a time line or journal, something simple that shows how symptoms are ongoing..
