I am the caregiver for my fiance who suffered her 9th concussion in Jan 2018. Due to the severity and nature of her fall, she manifested as a TBI, and the cumulative effects of all the concussive events prior came to count in the overall damages. We did everything possible including 4-5 days a week of neuro-rehab for 8-9 months straight, 80+ hours of HBOT, and untold supplements. She improved to about 90%, but is slipping now and shows signs of CTE/TES. I recently discovered the compound Sulforaphane, which everyone can afford simply by sprouting broccoli seeds at home. Yep. That easy, or take a supplement called Avmacol (No affiliation, not pushing any product just this one has the active ingredients that we need to make sulforaphane in our gut!).
Research has shown for years now that Sulforaphane crosses the blood brain barrier, and quickly reduces brain inflammation. It also jump starts cells into self defense mode so that they start repairing themselves. Here is just one of 113 citations from one study: Quote:
Watch this video of Dr. Rhonda Patrick interviewing Dr. Fahey, who was instrumental at John Hopkins University doing early and ongoing research on sulforaphane and it's benefits specifically. ** We had a team of the best functional brain trauma specialists helping us and sadly no one mentioned this compound! Is it just me or should this not be part of every concussive event triage treatment worldwide? Is it just because it is a food based nutrient/compound that occurs naturally? No one has any patents? Big pharma can't corner the market? OK... I am off my soapbox. No offense to anyone. Hope you all benefit from this information and are encouraged to do your own research and try this at home. Even without a brain injury, a broccoli sprout smoothie is impressive in how it makes you feel... better than a cup of coffee and way healthier overall. Time will tell for my fiance, but we are both hopeful and that is for enough, for now. Last edited by Chemar; 08-14-2019 at 07:46 PM. LostinParadise,
Sulforaphane may have some value but in most rat studies, they show the substance achieving benefit when administered within 12 to 24 hours. Two reports specifically state "However, the influence of sulforaphane on post-injury cognitive deficits has not been examined." What makes you think your fiance is exhibiting CTE? What 10% has she not recovered? How did she get so many concussions? What were the worst concussions?
