I know it’s been some time and I got some great advice on here last time regarding anxiety post concussion. My last concussion was almost 1.5 years ago and I have an irrational fear of repeat concussions. I see a lot of posts about anxiety post concussion, but didn’t know if anyone had any advice about resources hay helped them?
I have seen psych and neuro. Sports medicine has cleared me. I have just not had a lot of success at finding someone that deals with anxiety post concussion. I am getting manual manipulation to my neck along with physical therapy, which seems to help a little. I am also attending vision therapy. My goal is to not worry about my head so much, which seems easier said than done. I would like to return to normal with my children and not be so concerned about bumping or even someone touching my head. Any insight to helpful resources is much appreciated, thanks ! |

As Bud has reminded us all. If a simple bump did not cause a problem prior to your concussion, it will not cause a problem after your concussion. You brain may try to play a memorized symptom track but that is just anxiety.
So, when that bump happens, think back to how you ignored it before your concussion and move ahead the same way. The simple truth is this. Once the bump happens, there is NOTHING you can do to undo that bump. Nobody has a bump back in time time machine. So, say ouch if need be and go on.

Thanks Mark, I know you reply a lot on here and I appreciate it. Makes complete sense. I may be like a lot of people on her where I believe I am smart enough to realize these little bumps can't cause a concussion. For whatever reason my body doesn't process that the same way and I overreact causing anxiety. But i love your saying that no one has a bump back in time time machine. Great perspective, thanks!
