Default PCS and head sensitivity 7 years later

Hey there!

I had a big accident and large TBI in 2013 and my head has never really been the same. I would say the biggest thing is head sensitivity and overall likelihood to get headaches.

Honestly, all things considered I feel like I have made solid progress and can live with it most of the time, but whenever my head gets bumped or nudged or touched or anything it almost feels like I get a concussion again. Just a few days ago the dog jumped up and knocked my head pretty good and now I feel like I am underwater again - eye sensitivity, can't concentrate, groggy, foggy, my scalp and forehead feel sensitive/slighlty painful.

I know realistically I didn't get another concussion (at least I hope not?) but it almost like jarring my head shakes up the settled PCS syndromes for a week or two. Does anyone else get that?

You likely jerked your head in response and upset a never resolved subtle upper neck strain that causes headaches.

You tendency to headaches is likely an upper neck posture issue.

Very interesting, thanks. Do you think physical therapy or something would help? I feel like my ability to concentrate is subpar

Physical therapy, if it is gentle and just works on light traction and mobilization without any range of motion may help you to reduce inflammation. You will need to be very disciplined to sleep with good head and neck posture of many months. Some simple neck strengthening exercises against your head weight can slowly increase your neck stability. Laying down on the floor on your back and belly while holding your head just off the floor then on your side holding your head straight. Ice your upper neck when you have a headache.

This may sound kind of stupid but I received a My Pillow brand pillow at Christmas and it is fantastic. It mounds around my head quite nicely but is quite supportive.
