Propranolol can be a valuable rescue medication. It should not be taken as a maintenance med. If you spike in blood pressure and pulse, having a propranolol or atenolol available can help you get settled. Use the minimum dose. Those tiny pills can be broken into pieces. My wife gets help from 1/4 of a tiny atenolol pill.
