Default Bleeding ears

What exactly would be causing bleeding from ears?
So I'll explain....last year a friend of mine was in an accident and many never believed he would ever make it out of hospital. When speaking with my friend a few nights ago he mentioned that he recently had a few days that he had found blood in his ears. I was unaware that the night of the accident when he was found he had blood coming from eyes, ears, mouth and nose all.

My question is this...what would be a cause of the bleeding to start out of nowhere? What c ok implications could be in the future? When I asked him about seeing a doctor, he told me the doctor said he would "be fine" seeing the look on his face was enough to tell me that theres something I'm not being told. Just looking to understand what his future has for him. Should I be worried or should I believe him?
