Default Loss of ability to feel physical reactions in body to emotions

Anyone else lose the ability to have emotions and feelings as physical sensations in the body?

All sensations of feeling and emotion is gone from my body. I dont Feel numb, i Feel dead.

My brain also feels non-responsive and i am only on autopilot.

My body feels like stone. Too light. Nothing dragging it down causing a heavy feeling making it be my own. My arms feels so strange. It feels like I am not in my body. It is so mechanical.

I dont sleep because i dont Feel sleepy. I never Feel calm in my body, just an unnerving neutral and restless feeling.

I want to Feel, but there is nothing in my body. When i am sad and angry i just know, because there is nothing in my body. No surge of rage and no pain in my chest.

When i lay down under my covers, i dont get a familiar calm and warm, heavy feeling in my body. It is still hard as stone on the inside.

Also i dont Feel hunger. And never sleepy in my head. I also dont Feel confused in my head or get a foggy feeling. Even though i know that is what i am.

All emotions are purely mental. Sometimes my brain is so numb though it does not respond to any stimulus. And i have this constant unsatisfactory feeling because nothing makes me Feel.

All i have left is stress in my body. Nothing else. This bad restlessness i cant get out of.

It feels like so bad!

Anyone else experience this and get emotions back in the body?

Hi Sofa00,
First thing I thought about when reading your message was the description of some kind of dissociation between your mind and body and I know that to be associated with depression and/or anxiety and/or trauma as well as other reasons I suppose.

I hope that you've spoken with your doctor about how you're feeling because the sooner the better. I wonder what happens if you try relaxation techniques. There's the old tried and tested one where you lie down and while starting at the toes, you tighten and then relax every group of muscles until you are all the way up to your head.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation: Benefits, How-To, Technique

Apart from all the benefits this has, I wonder if it might enable you to get in touch with your body more just a little, gentle bit at a time.

Just my thoughts.
Feel better soon.

Sofa00,

Welcome to NT.

Many of us experience various version of flat affect, anhedonia, and more.

A thorough hormone assessment by a neuro endocrinologist might be worthwhile.

It can be difficult to find a good neuro endocrinologist. There are some who practice "life extension" medicine. They look at ways to naturally improve the body and brain.

Some who experience what you are experiencing are simply depressed. Many of us use nutritional supplement to help our brains function in a work of stress and overstimulation. Ther Vitamins sticky at the top has a vitamin regimen many have found useful

I help my brain with 5-HTP and L-Theanine rather than the common drugs pushed by doctors.

Emerging research shows that depression is linked to imbalances of bad bacteria in the gut microbiome, and not a serotonin chemical imbalance as previously thought.

When there's an overgrowth of bad bacteria in the gut, it causes inflammation in other parts of the body, including the brain. That can cause depression, anxiety, and other health problems. Inflammation also inhibits neurogenesis.

So it would be best to address your gut health before taking an antidepressant. Plus it's not a good idea to take antidepressants while recovering from a concussion because they don't help the brain heal and can make it worse.

Gut Health and Depression: What’s the Link?

Stop eating sugar, refined carbs, and fast food.
Eat more protein, veggies, and fiber
Take probiotics

It looks to me like the poster is reaching out to not feel alone and in this fight by themselves....IDK?....I would rather give them some insight of what my struggles were 16 years ago, than to preach what they should be doing? It took me years just to get back on my feet, walking and talking...Taking supplements and any other things were years down the road!
