Video blog from our Baja expedition back in 2017. We camped and explored remote beaches along the Baja peninsula. It was awesome to be able to drive onto the beach and put the lift down and roll out onto the sand.

Except it didn't end well for me. We had to charter a small plane to fly Dad and I home because of a concussion. Then my brother and my mom spent 3 days driving my van back home.

A little more on the Baja incident.

The roads were rough and the van rocked and I hit my head on the side pillar. I had been recovering from a concussion and I had previously spent a year in bed because of it.

After hitting my head, I thought nothing of it, and we carried on driving another 4 hours. But then later that day, my symptoms started coming back.

We were in the small town of Guerrero Negro about halfway down the Baja Peninsula. I rested for a few days but my condition was not improving. I knew there was no way that I would survive the 3 day drive back home, given that I was previously bedridden.

So I needed to fly home quick. But flying out of a small town in Mexico was not as easy as it seems.

We saw a small airport on the map, My parents drove to the airport, but it was deserted. Eventually we figured out it was a small charter plane service called Aero Services Guerrero across from our hotel.

They had a flight to Guaymas (on the mainland) a few days later but we would have had to stay in a hotel in Guaymas, then catch a flight to Pheonix and on to LA. That was too much travelling for my concussed head.

The next day we found out there was a special flight to Tijuana. My power wheelchair was big and heavy and wouldn't fit on the plane or taxi so we bought a used manual wheelchair for the flight.

Then Dad and I flew to Tijuana, crossed the border, rented a car, and drove home to LA with me lying on the back seat.

Meanwhile, Mom and Michael spent 3 days driving my van back home by way of Gonzaga Bay and San Felipe.

But despite our best efforts, unfortunately my condition deteriorated after returning home and I would spend 4 years in bed. (too many concussions). That's why it took so long to post this video. But now I'm making another comeback.

The impact force of the head bump was not enough to cause serious symptoms, and definitely not enough to cause symptoms so severe that I could not open my eyes. The only probable explanation is runaway inflammation. That's why I say that after repeat injuries, the brain can overreact and pump out excessive inflammation in response to small bumps, and that inflammation causes the symptoms.
