So I will make this as short as possible. 36, male, no medical issues. 2002, major concussion, I was out for probably 5 minutes, idk. 2014, concussion, not immediately major, no loss of consciousness, had after effects after for about a month. Started riding roller coasters two years later, no issues, again in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022..... never had a problem. Never even had neck strain from riding them, despite as you can probably guess, having a few months of neck issues in 2002 and some neck 'weirdness' in 2013 and 2023.....

Anyhow, background over. On to the main event. On saturday I rode a wooden coaster, in the back, in the dark. It was a rough ride, much more than I was expecting, despite having ridden this coaster in 2017 and 2021. I was fine until the first sharp turn, which I happened to have my head turned in the wrong direction for.... Hello neck strain, as I got yanked hard without being prepared. This was then followed up by several 'bunny hills' in which I was airborne (prehaps 6-8 inches) in my seat and slammed back down about 5 times. The seats were padded, thankfully. I didn't actually hit my head against any surface at any point. Immediately following the ride, I had tingling in my hands in feet, which I've had in the past from neck issues in 2013 and 2023 (neither was cause by a blow to the head or whiplash those times) I was a little out of it but ok, ended up leaving the park early and not riding any more rides. Some sensitivity to light later that night.

This park was 3 hours from my home, so I had a hotel. Yesterday, I walked 5 miles in a park, drove about 4 hours, visited a store and as the sun went down, I started to notice how much more than usual headlights were bothering me. I was a little out of sorts all day yesterday, not as sharp, minor headache, foggy a bit. The lights in a store I stopped at were much too bright and when I got home, I was exhausted, despite sleeping 9+ hours on saturday night. Last night, I felt a tiredness behind my eyes and more light sensitivity. This morning, still a headache and the same tiredness behind the eyes and some light sensitivity. I slept way more than usual, roughly 10 hours. Neck doesn't hurt but its not 'normal' still some tingling in the hands. I do feel more 'normal' but I'm closely monitoring myself to see if that continues....

I'm sure that many of you don't ride roller coasters as a rule and that's probably smart. I'm curious if any of you have had a similar experience, so far out from your last concussion (10 years for me) Are concussions from roller coaster rides a thing? Could neck strain be the cause of my issues? I

It's probably not a concussion, you need a LOT of force for a concussion.
