Default hello

Hello everyone, I am new here and very pleased to have found this place. About 42 years ago, when I was five I suffered a brain injury ( I was hit by a car) which changed my personality from a happy outgoing child to one that was dark and brooding most of the time. I had to relearn how to do certain things such as learning how to walk and talk again. Over the years I have seemed to adapt very well, though there are still some problems. I have a very hard time controlling my temper which can be volital at times. Though I have never hurt or threatened my family, my verbal abuse of my family is shameful. I do see a therapist and take a mood stabilizer. I have had a hard time getting a doc to help me because I am very well spoken, and seem well adjusted. It was only after my wife went with me to a psychiatrist and convinced them the seriousness of the situation. Can you believe that? This was about two years ago and things are much better. My attention span is very short as well, and there are times I seem to just fade in and out which doesn't happen too often, maybe once or twice a week. Well that's the short of it. This seems like a caring place, and I hope that I will be able to make new friends and gather support. Thanks for the welcome!

You definately are welcome, and for that fact so is your wife. She might find some support on some of the forums here in some of the rooms. Like the caregivers support forum. So you might tell her about it.

I hope we can help you and give you the support you need.

Let us know what you need.

Donna
