Default headaches and some issues need clarifying

hello all! I was in a car accident where my car was badly totaled where a girl pulled out in front of me and we collided and I was diagnosed with pcs shortley after when all the symptoms came into play. That was back in the middle of august, and my headaches are still every day, but I don't have any weird tingly sensations really, just the headaches. Do they last this long after an accident? It seems nothing works for them. I'm on lyrica but it takes the edge off them.

And my left arm has some pain/numbness occasionally. Can stress cause that? It's gotten a little better but I still notice it. My balance is still off, and I still get random body pains.

Does anyone have trouble with attention or concentration this long after an accident? I'm attending a community college and I'm on break now, but I was having these problems still. My memory has gotten better, and light sensitivity along with my attitude.

Other than that I have a muscle relaxant to help me sleep, but this is my last refill. I didn't take it for a couple days and had trouble sleeping, one night I had dreams about me getting into different car accidents.

Hi eagle1, sorry about your car accident. Yes, the headaches and other problems can last for several months. I have had headaches for over seven months now and am finally getting some relief with amitriptylene, but the drowsiness it causes is annoying. Hope you get better soon.

Okay, first for the sleeping thing. I'm going to suggest you buy some
melantonin over the counter at a health store. Being that you are both
adults I would buy the 3 mg pills, see if this helps you go to sleep.

Its a natural mineral that helps you sleep. Its something that lots of
us parents with children that take lots of medication for seizures or
other things. Can give our kids, or ourselves to help us sleep.

I haven't had the need yet with all the medicines I take. But if I ever
do I would try it.

The other thing is that I have found for headaches and tension that physical therapy helps a lot. It also helps a lot for arm and shoulder or neck pains.

So this is something you might try too.

Default HI

I think you need to deal with the non sleeping issue asap - as everything is worse without sleep - I did have melatonin for a while - I am now taking dothiepin it is used for depression in larger doses and in lower doses at night is a muscle relaxant - it seems to work, but need to take it approx 1-2 hours before going to bed.

Also don't get over tired or stressed - easier said than done - read the newest post re jinxy.

Take care

Lynlee

Default Hi and welcome

Sorry it's taken so long to respond to your post- I've been offline for a few days.

I had my head injury in the beginning of June and I find that the concentration and attention issues are the things that bug me the most (ask me what bugs me the most tomorrow and I might tell you something different!)

With everyone else, I agree that sleep is what will help you the most. Go back to your doctor and get something to help you sleep. If nothing else, you can try benedryl (that's the active 'sleep' ingredient in Tylenol PM).

My doctor put me on seroquel to help me sleep because I just wasn't sleeping AT ALL and it made everything worse. The seroquel has helped a lot, but is starting to lose its effect.

Truly, rest is the main thing to help you get through this.
