Default will it just go away slowly

hi all,
would like some help if possible.Im lying on the couch and have been here for most of the past of the past 6 and a 1/2 weeks.after a surfboard clocked me on the left upper side side of my head, and split it open to the skull.fortunately my skull did not crack and the catscan did not show any signs of notable damage.
since it happened I still get tingling sensations, pressure in my head and blurred vision.the bad headacres seemed to have passed but if I try to use my arms or exercise ,even light yoga I feel pressure coming on and the headacres start to come back.riding in a car will cause the pressure to come on.
is anyone experiencing the same symptoms or know whats wrong with me and will it go away with time, thanks I would apprieciate any help
regards mark

Mark,
Believe it or not 6.5 weeks is still very early for alot of PCS healers. Yes, for my son and alot of others the symptoms gradually fade away in time. It was 6 months for us. It really depends on each case but time and rest bring relief. I wish you well and be patient. Do not overstimulate yourself and respect the healing process. I am sorry for your troubles. Keep educating yourself on this site.

Mark, I am in my 10th month. I am older than most on here (65) so I am not one to go by. I keep hoping mine will leave me, and yet so far, all that has left me is my cognitive abilities. Makes me feel like I have Alhzimers(spell?). My damage did show up on a EEG about a month or so ago. Can't remember when, due to the momory loss and my confussion.
I do know that rest and taking it slowly seems to be the best way to handle PCS. Stress blows me away and makes me much worse. I hope the best for you and hope it will not last too long. Gaye

Mark,
He had headaches but he seemed to have them all the time at first and they were different than a typical headache, he described them as pressure and sometimes tingling or tearing at the top of his scalp. He took Ibuprofen for headaches and it is unclear as to whether this is the best drug but it worked for him and gradually he needed less and less. He had difficulty sleeping and took Melatonin for over 6 months, 2 tabs and then weaning down to 1. Both of these drugs were acceptable with the concussion specialist we were seeing at the time. He was dizzy most of the time and this seem to bother him the most. When he was really ill with symptoms he just withdrew down to our basement and watched T.V for weeks at a time. He was in a "fog" as he described it and hated detailed questions about how he was feeling. He probably was in a depression but his youth(17) and optimism that his mother would solve this for him may have kept the depression down. It is a very tricky domino affect. You will get better and you need to remain positive and keep your anxiety level down. I would say he had anxiety issues more than depression and he would periodically get easily overwhelmed. He is now happy, motivated, doing well in school and heavily exercising. All issues faded away. Reinjury is our only worry and he is not live wrestling anymore for his high school team. This caused more of a depression for awhile but he is adjusting. Take care of yourself, time will heal.

hi alisden,
sorry I havent got back to you till now.i hope your husband gets better soon.we have similar symptoms .last night was a bad night I couldnt sleep at all.the pressure causes anxiety. the day before I stopped taking st johns wort it was helping me sleep but it was giving me more head acres so I stopped taking it.i am going to the nuero tonight at 6pm,so i will for some other sleep drug ,he gave me valproic acid and nimotop last month but I stopped taking both, the nimotop made me not be able to breath properly was scary and the other stuff made the head acres worse but curbed anxiety.but i hate taking meds so I tried st johns wort for a week,I went for a walk this morning and pushed through the pressure build up thinking i would die but im still here I think maybe 50% of the injury is panic and nerves.
where is he going to get rehab and what do they do?has he done any other therapy,I am stuck in mexico and I dont have many options.I may go back to australia when I feel a little better.
regards from mark
