Default Relief!

Hey guys. Just wanted to check in and share. After having extremely strong suicidal thoughts, and almost being hospitalized because of them. My Father made an appointment for me to see an acupuncturist. It had been suggested to me before but i really did not believe it would work. I wrote it off as just being a placebo effect for the people it did work for. But i was in no state to put up a fight when the appointment was made for me. I planned on going so i could check it off the list of things that didnt work, and to shut up the people who thought it could help me. So i was as much a disbeliever as one could be going in. But when i sat up after the treatment, i could feel waves of something circulating around my skull. Then the pain drained from my head to the base of my skull, which is where it is now. And this is all after just one treatment. I go back in a few hours. This is the most pain-free ive been in the past 17 months. Its like ive been reborn. Talking to my acupuncturist, she had a head injury and was suffering headache, and dizziness and nausea for 4 years. And acupuncture fixed her, and it had such a profound impact on her life that she decided to do it herself.

Im really excited about going back. Sure there is no anatomical, medical or even scientific explanation to it. Thats why i didnt believe it would work. But i guess theres alot of things we dont understand. I would be quick to agree that its not a cure all. But for some types of pain it makes sense. It helped me immensely. Its weird going from wanting so badly to die, to being so glad your alive all in the same day.

I implore all of you in pain to immediately find the most qualified acupuncturist in your area and try it.

That sounds pretty amazing. I've been thinking about trying acupuncture for my headaches, might have a reason to now. Thanks for the info!

Good for you Owen! Thank goodness you kept trying to find the right answer for you, and thank goodness your father didn't give up either.

Best wishes for continued recovery!

Default Relief!

I'm so glad you mentioned acupuncture, Owen. My teenage daughter went for treatments about 9 months post injury and continued for about 7 months. It was a great help in that she was able to focus and concentrate better, and the frequency and intensity of her headaches decreased. Then she took a break for a few months (summer) and resumed treatments, but they didn't help anymore. That's when she started seeing an oseopath/homeopath and she made a dramatic improvement. Now, 26 months post injury and 5 months into the new treatment modality, she is a normal high school kid. Stays up late. (But not too late!) Keeps up with her work. Travels on her own to see her friends. Four months ago I never thought I'd ever be able to say that. People, don't disregard "unconventional" therapies. And if a particular one doesn't work for you, try another, or another practitioner. And keep coming back to Neurotalk for support and understanding. No one else gets what you're going through better than us.
