All right I am ****** off ...I am ****** off of people who say I know how you feel when there are absolutely clueless.
I had a" friend" call today...I was tired so she suggests I should exercise! I told her are you kidding me? I am suppose to listen to you? You gave me an advise three months ago after my concussion just shake it off and ignore your symptoms... so here she is again tell me that she understands how I feel. The reason that I am tired is because I am depressed! She tops it off by saying I should stop reading things on the internet. Where do people get off their high mighty horse thinking they know how somebody feels, and what is good for them when they have not experienced anything remotely close. She said she had banged her head before! |

What about when people say "I forget things too". Another that I hate is when somebody tells you "everybody gets tired".
I am very sensitive too noise and often ask for things to be turned down a little and have been glared at. My doctor sent me to hospital for a C/T after hitting my head again a short time ago. I didn't want to go as I hate the waiting around and knew it wouldn't show anything. Any way the ER nurse was asking me questions and I said that I had a terrible headache - she said to me " I get headaches too, do you think you should just go home and take some panadol?" Prior to that she told me that there was no such thing as Post Concussion Syndrome. I won't say can you believe it as no doubt we all can as that is why we are all here on this site. I have the same problem going...my family walks around here on hard wood floor shaking the ground. The sound and the vibration really bothers me.
Nobody seems to get it. I even had the suggestion of stuffing something in my ear!( by a much older. wiser family member) Last edited by seiko; 11-19-2008 at 12:53 AM. Reason: mistake |

Well, maybe not in those words, but ever had someone respond with something that basically tells you to get over it?

I do find that having an stressful day does magnifies the symptoms.

Problem with post concussion syndrome is that you look fine on the outside, the scans are normal, but you feel lousy.
I just needed to blow off some steam something that I have not allowed myself to do in the last few months as it will only makes the symptoms worse. To be honest it is not my pcs, or the remarks that bothers me so much...as something that happened to me recently. I will talk about it later. |

After my accident I ended up leaving my job. I had a good job in a career I'd gone to university to get the qualifications for and spent the time to build. My job at the time had spoken out loud about how supportive they'd been, but that didn't mean that they'd been supportive and it definitely didn't make up for the pressure they'd put upon me to get back to work. Since then I've relocated and changed jobs to a place that gives me enough holiday time to travel and I've met an awesome guy.
So, why am I telling you this? Every situation is unique. I can't stress that enough. My story probably won't be yours. But, even though I lost a lot after my accident. things are working out for me and in ways that I didn't expect. You're probably getting sick of people trying to be inspirational and upbeat for you, but take this for what it's worth to you. |

hi all
yes had all these sort of comments the one that really got me is the official from the sick people work for benefit scheme ,saying to me I will contact you in a couple of weeks when you are feeling better , this guy knows I have 40 freaking screws in my head the gov doc says I am to damaged to work I am awaiting NS to fix a CSF leak and feel like I am standing on the deck of a boat the tinnitus is driving me slowly out of what mind ,I have left but the hardest thing is, I cant cope with simple things that upsets me, I hate what this has done to my family , but I an,t giving up, there are my kids to think about , PEOPLE can,t know how much someone with a TBI want,s to get better or the dread we feel when our mind go,s blank rant over vini
