benjamin,
It will be hard to get a definitive diagnosis of Alzheimer's with a history of brain injury with any cognitive decline. There is far too much overlap of symptoms. Besides, the research is advancing so fast that we all have plenty of time for the AD treatments to get approved. RisibleGirl, Has your doctor tried neurontin (gabapentin) for the myoclonus? I was on Klonopin for a while but switched to neurontin. It is much better. It has helped with my jaw clenching and body jerks. After 6 years at 600 mgs, I had to up my dosage from 600 mg to 750 mg recently as the jerks and bruxism were returning. At first, I tried two 600mg pills. After my doctors comments, I started breaking one in half and taking 750mg. It works great. The side effects of Klonopin, Seroquel, and anti-depressants combined can be brutal. Some of the movement issues can be caused by anti-depressants. The Klonopin made me into a zombie. The Neurontin does not make me sleepy. After I upped my dose of Neurontin to 750, my stress dreams have become less frequent. I call them stress dreams because they are not quite nightmares. My wife says I sometimes thrash about with a mean look on my face. I believe my problem is caused by a problem with my brain stem. The physiology fits. Hope to get some good imaging when the doctor gets around to it.
