Default white matter scaring and regression

hi all
white matter scaring and regression I think I am back to square one in some respects, the first 3 months post injury level although my intellect has developed work around,s

I was told by my maxi facial surgeon that it was possible that my facial nerve may reattach and that nerve tissue grows at an infinitesimal rate and if feeling had not returned after 2 years the chances are it would be permanent and was more likely to happen in younger people,,

it is my understanding, that we learn thought and function by means of connection between neurons forming patterns in the various structures in the brain these become hard wired giving us memory, motor skills, and intellect, ect, infact every thing that we do not have, as new born.s hence the tragic out comes of some brain damaged infants,

as adults when brain structures suffer damage it can leave some areas untouched, some areas damaged but still functioning, but as the brain heals, scar tissue forms, altering and blocking the nuron connections / pathways.

given the slow rate at which the brain heals, this may account for this delayed response, this may account also, for the frustration we and our therapists feel when we hit these periods of regression, and wrongly blame it on psychological factors,( like you say mark some therapist and doctors may not have the insight or the intellect of the people they are treating )

my conceptual thinking is unaffected and infact may have been enhanced due to the slow clear way, ideas now form in my mind and being internal in there origin ,

but rush or flood me with emotional or external sensory stimulus and brain freeze is the result,

but because now I try to block it out

, I find I can just have one thought and play with it, as almost a shape, explore it ,and alter it , uninterrupted, this dose not happen all the time. but every so often,

(do any of you guys have this sensation)

now I am not saying this scaring cannot be overcome by our bodies . I say bodies as apposed to brain because

and I am musing here ?

that healing and nuroplastic compensation are archived by means of the brain stem or what is known as the primitive or reptilian brain ,

this must have been involved in nuroplastic creation and evolution of our modern brain ( chicken and egg scenario )
so it maybe that only after the healing is complete
and of course no more damage is sustained that rewiring may take place,

I think physiotherapy may play a part in stimulating the brain stem to archive this also trying to redevelop mental skills but in a different way,

like me mark with my shape thoughts, and you said something about converting things

eg switching to another part of the brain,

but it is known that trying to use a damaged part of the brain too early ,may cause the body to destroy the structure around the injury

sorry if I am babbling but when I get one of my clarity moments I have to get it out

thanks for reading

I learned about this process where the brain destroys surrounding brain cells. The malfunctioning brain cells send out tRNA. Transmitting RNA. These messengers tell the surrounding cells to self-destruct. The thought is that this creates 'clean margins' as they say in the cancer industry. None of the remaining surrounding cells have any minimal dysfunction.

This prevents the dmaged cells from sending erroneous messages to the other cells, thus corrupting the processes.

The neuro-plasticity then moves incoming neuron messages to the surrounding cells. This redirect allows functions to be restored at minimal or better levels.

The problem many head injury survivors have is the damage from "diffuse axonal injury." This weakening of the axons is more global, effecting the entire brain or so. There are not unaffected cells to divert the incoming messages to. The brain will not improve until the axons get stronger.

This is where learning work-arounds and other accommodations becomes important.

vini, when you get these moments of clarity, try using more 'carriage returns' so those of us with visual challenges can follow your text. I find I have to do this to reread what I have typed before I hit 'submit reply.'
