Hi Jenna,
Your body will adjust over time and you should gradually feel less sleepy, etc.. Making sure you take it with food can also help. ![]() I'm on a massive dose ![]() Good Luck |

I'm not on Tegretol, but I am on 6400 mgs. of Neurontin a day. I had alot of trouble staying awake all day at first. Hockey is right your body will adjust to it after about 2 wks. Just try to be careful and get as much rest as you can when you are not at work.

![]() HOWEVER, this morning, I took 200mg in the morning and 20mins later the side effects hit me so hard i could barely walk at work. I was mumbling my words, somewhere in the forum i red "tegretol retard pill/tab" and I believe this now. I dont think I can last like that at work. Can't do anything at work. I can't think, talk, or walk. Wow, I know there are other people out there taking 1200 - 1600mg/day, I salute you guys. Good job! I'm a newbie here. I need as much help and support as I can get. I'm having a hard time accepting that I have to do this everyday, and I know after a couple weeks my system will get used to it and the side effects will calm down. Hopefully ASAP coz I work in a doctor's office and I'm not holding up at all.... Thank you for everyone's response,,, hang in there guys Quote:

As you work in a doctor's office, is your employer a little more understanding? Just a little nap on a cot during your lunch hour could really help improve your function.
Going from 200 to 400mg a day is a significant jump to do all in one go. My dosage increases have always been done in increments: an extra quarter pill of a week, then an extra half, etc... If you tell your doctor you're having trouble adjusting, perhaps he/she will let you build up your dose more gradually. Hang in There |

My employer is understanding, but what I do at the office won't allow me to be off for 2 hours during the hours between 8-5 to take a nap. I really wish I could.
I finally saw a neurologist today!!! Thank god. I couldn't handle the side effects of Tegretol retard tabs at 400mg/day ... My neuro gave me Topomax 25mg ( lowest dose) to test it out. This way i'm only taking 1 tablet before sleeping.. everynight. I hope this works out. Hows everyone else holdin up?? Keep ur head up high.... God bless us all... Quote:
