First of all, there is not pain when they take them out. I did not feel anything. I wanted those leads out really bad. They were all tangled in my hair, it would hurt when the generator would move as it was so heavy, all the cords on my chest where not sticking and falling off. I was a mess. I just could not wait to get them out. It was like a huge thing in my mind that it would help to get them out. It was not 30 seconds when I told the Doc....oh my god......I have to have them back in. I realized how much they really did help and started my despair of waiting for the permanent. The pain was bad. It was like the nerves were so happy to have the wires gone and they could start their streaming. The pain did settle down to the normal pain that led me to wanting the stimulator. You have to hang in there. Do not panic. It does work and you had some times that showed you that. I hope you are not going to the er. That will show on your record and could be a problem as the insurance co may think that it was not working. Pray for the pain to go away. I understand that tomorrow is the day that the leads were to come out anyway. I know you have a problem with a ride. Take that time and take a walk, read something...just do something to pass the time before you can get back on the road. Maybe she could drop you off at a shopping center were you could get a cold drink and keep your mind busy which helps you not notice the pain as much. If you have an attack, just go outside someplace away from people and then just calm down. You can do it. Be strong just for a little longer. You will be okay. I so hope you can read this tonight and if you need to talk please call me. I am at 303-722-1307. I live in Denver so closer to your time and I will be up late tonight so please call if you would like some encouragement. I been through it all and still am. I would love to talk you through it. If you do not call please let me know how you are. Hang in there sister.
Love
Cheryl
Hi Cheryl,
Thank you so much for this post - you are right - they came out today, and I didn't even feel it. So strange! But the nerves are definitely responding now that I am home, and I am keeping really quiet.
My husband finally called in to work and took the morning off to take me. I feel bad about that - people depend on him at his job.
I think that my NS is going to bat for me for getting it approved. It will work to his advantage too if I go through with it.
I am hoping that you are feeling better, I gave Tina a little tip to give you that may be helpful. It frustrates me to hear that you will be two days short.
But keep your chin up, dear Cheryl, and you will be there sooner than you think. Mine will happen sometime late September / early October. So long! Oh well - he's in demand so often becuase he is great at what he does.
Hugs to you, and lay low, ok? Be gentle to yourself and ask for all the help you can (be demanding if you have to )
Lily

Cheryl,
I am still hurting and BURNING. Got my meds changed up yesterday and will be back at the doctor on Monday to see if I've gotten any relief at all from that. Also, my neurosurgeon is supposed to be e-mailing me any time now as a follow up asking if I feel any better. Then I can ask about the stim. They brought it up after my surgery so I hope they will still be open to talking to me about it.
Praying for all of you that are waiting, hurting,or have been there. Thanks for the support and friendship.
xxx,
Cindi

Lastnerve It is good to have the trial all done with yet at same time it is like ... crap I wish I had a bit more longer or as I hope you might find ...dang that thing helped I want the sucker back .
Dont not feel to bad about Hub missing part of work day... it is life showing you there are people who care and love you. You deserve all that and more sister!!!
Late Sept or early Oct humm I am Oct born would be a kick if it ends up the 5th . But for right now going to send out big heavy vibs for this PNS option to smoothly proceed into approval mode and the wait be short with final implant and pain manged a total success !!
FYI You fit in here just fine!!!

Cindi your in our thoughts I hope both doctors are open to the idea of PNS trail.
if they need to they could read this thread.on one of the pages I have how to find a doctor who dose this Neuro Stim / PNS . at least it is something to have in mind before doing motor cortex .
It is great getting to know you. You bring it up if the Doctors dont. . . Sometime it is like your on your own to find another option .

Cheryl it is getting close we need to start a count down for B.B.
give yourself time to adjust to the med change your having right now. your doing pretty great . Way awesome you will have some others there before and after. .. I hear P.J might be around .
this neurotalk place is filled with the most spectacular people!

Thank You everyone .
PEACE

Good Morning Everyone,
Stopping by to say hi and hope that all who are in pain that you have a better day today. I had a great day yesterday. I met with Mark and Cleo for lunch. It was wonderful. What a lovely couple. We are hear from Mark and know what a great guy he is just by reading his posts. And of course, just meeting him, he is the same in person. To put the face ( and his back ) to his posts was not a surprise. It was like I have known him forever. Cleo, on the other hand, we all have not met her. She is a lovely lady. Just so classy, kind, tender person. I can see being a friend of hers forever. Mark is so lucky to have such a wonderful person in his life. First meeting her was like we knew eachother for a long time. The hug see gave me brough tears to my eyes. I am so fortunate to have this couple in my life. They both are going to come to see me in the pre op room prior to surgery. They will pray with me which I appreciate so very much. Also, they will meet with Brent ( my ans rep ) to go over the remote so Mark can help if I need him. Mark was doing well. When we were walking to the restaurant in the mall, he was walking faster than me. He is in some pain due to coming off of the medication so that is a challenge. So............I wish all of you had the opportunity that I have to be close to them and able to meet with from time to time.

I wish be posting my countdown to my surgery day ( a week from today ). Also, I cam coming off of my fentanyl patch and put on morphine. The fentanyl is much stronger than morphine, so this is going to be a challenge. So, look for my post in the next couple of days. Love to all of you
Don't forget to pray each day for each other. Pray does work.
Love again,
Cheryl

Yay BMW!!! Yay T-Rex! I'm so please for you both! Happy B-day to your pain free life!!!
I just got my surgery date - September 1! there was a cancellation that they were able to schedule me in, so the wait won't be near as long! Hooray!
I have definitely been hurting more since the stuff came out, so it may have been working better than I assumed, although I may just be flared from the removal and from the weather. But if it was the unit, then I am in for some great improvement. I am CAUTIOUSLY optimistic - I will not give it credit before it is due, though. That is just my way of coping after 2 failed surgeries. Well, the first one half-worked, but the neuropathic part of the TN is still there so much of the time!
So please bear with me and I will surely let you all know how it goes! There is a shred of hope there - it will be really funny if I am wrong to be this way
Hugs to you all, and my most heartfelt gratitude for all of the warmth and support. I will be counting down with the rest of you for Cheryl's surgery - I can't wait - I am so thrilled for you, sweetheart - you are almost there!
Hugs,
Lily

Happy birthday t-rex. For 8 years old you are doing a great job. You keep tina in great shape to help all of us here in this wonderful place to be. Keep up the good work. Just keep on buzzing. You cousin will soon be born this coming up week. A lot younger than you, so you can boss her around.
