Smile mvd surgery 8 weeks postop MY STORY

NEW AT THIS SO BEAR WITH ME. NOT REALLY SURE WHEN MY TN PAIN STARTED. IGNORED SHARP PAIN IN MY RIGHT SIDE IF FACE FOR YRS. THINKING THEY WERE JUST SOME KIND OF HEADACHE. STRANGE THING WAS THEY NEVER REALLY BECAME A HEADACHE. BY THE TIME I COULD GET A PILL IT WAS GONE.I HAVE FIBRO AND SJOGREN'S WITH ARTHRITIS AS WELL. THEY WERE DIAGNOSED ONLY 2YEARS AGO. THE PAIN IN MY FACE BEGAN TO CHANGE AND I HAD JAW PAIN AND CHEWING AND SWALLOWING PAIN AND THEN ALMOST CONSTANT PAIN IN MY TEETH. THE TEETH PAIN WAS ON BOTH SIDES. THE ROOF OF MY MOUTH HURT. I HAD STINGING SORT OF PAIN IN THE TIP OF MY TONGUE AND THE TIP OF MY NOSE. YOU THINK YOU'RE GONE LOSE YOUR MIND. HURT TO WASH FACE AND EVEN THE WIND BLOWING ON MY FACE OR THE AIR CONDITIONING IN THE CAR HURT. MISDIAGNOSED WITH TMJ IN THE EARLY STAGES. FINALLY AFTER SEVERAL DENTIST VISITS AN ENT AND NEUROLOGIST. I AM DIAGNOSED WITH TN AND SENT TO NEURO SURGEON. NOW I'M 8 WKS. POST OP. THE SURGERY WAS NOT A PIECE OF CAKE. IT WAS ROUGH. I STILL HAVE SOME TENDERNESS AND SORENESS I N MY SKULL.MY TN PAIN IS AROUND 50 TO 70% BETTER DEPENDING ON THE DAY. MY LEFT SIDED PAIN IMPROVED AS WELL. HOPE THE PAIN STAYS AT BAY. CAN WEAR MY EYEGLASSES FOR EXTENDED PERIODS NOW.YEAH!!!! I AM GLAD FOR THE SURGERY BUT MY VOCAL CORDS WERE DAMAGED IN THE PROCESS OF THE EXTENDED SURGERY. I SOUND TERRIBLE AND HAVE TO GO TO SPEECH THERAPY SOON. I USED TO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL VOICE. DON'T THINK I'LL BE SINGING SOLOS OR DOING WEDDINGS OR FUNERAL REQUEST IN THE COMING FUTURE. I AM A SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER OF SENIOR LADIES. NEED ALL THE PRAYERS YA GOT. SORRY SO LONG .JUST WANTED YA TO KNOW. THANKS TO ALL POSTERS. HUGS TO YA. GOD BLESS.

Wow Lola,
What a great reduction in pain levels! I'm so happy for you. You will find that as time goes on, you will feel the skull wound less and less.
I am so thrilled that you can wear your eye glasses again. I have that problem too, and it is making my life a little bit of hell. I can't wear contacts from dawn to bedtime, so it's a big deal for a 20/400 person like me! So that is great news to hear.
I am sorry that your voice was damaged, and I hope that with some speech therapy, that you will regain it in full.
Thank you for sharing your story with us, and welcome!
Lily
