Default Balloon Compression with Glycerol

I am looking for information relating to TN surgery that combines balloon compression and glycerol.

We have a preliminary (pre-physical evaluation & MRI) recommendation by a "prominent" neurosurgeon to treat my wife's TN (with MS) using balloon compression with glycerol. If I understand correctly, this combined procedure has been used successfully used by Dr. Ben Carson at Johns Hopkins. I don't know if he pioneered the approach. The combination apparently extends the pain-free period; however, I have not been able to find any literature/papers that discuss this approach.

I have had a glycerol injection, and a subsequent balloon compression, but haven't heard of the two combined as one procedure.

Keep us posted....!

How did your procedures go? Did you get pain relief?

The balloon compression did the trick, but now the TN has come back on the other side.
