one last word,,was reading about a lady going in for her second mvd,,,first didnt work,,,,and if am right second wont either

rweidn 11-09-2011 01:46 AM

Flans. It really would be good if you could detail your medical history and detail about your diet and exactly how you discovered the cause of your TN. I am on third day of cutting out all meat and just eating eggs and a bit of fish for protein but so far no difference in pain.

flans 11-09-2011 11:54 AM

rweidn,,doc diagnosed tn,,it was not that difficult to work out what i had,i responded well to tegretol,,confirmation of tn,,thing with diet is,,,all,,food produces amonia,,,animal that includes fish,,high in proteine,,,this may sound crazy,,eat food that labels protien content,,,,try 1oo grams of protene a day,,,this includes, potatoes veg,,,try tinned cooked ham,,, find a meal that provides 100 grams of protein,,have exactly the same meal twice a day,,,what that does is give you consistant amount of protein of the same kind,,,no snacks inbetween,, meals,,it only the two meals,,,its what i do,,,,with this diet amonnia levels drop fast,,,but remember,,nerves take time to completely recover,,,

flans 11-09-2011 12:05 PM

*moderator addition: Please note posts below with links showing why this amount of protein is too high and therefore could be dangerous!!!

same 100gram proteine meal twice a day,,,the object,,is,,less proteine less amonia,,,but you must be consistant..and remember every thing you eat producess amonia,,two same quantity meal twice aday,,,and nothing else,,,,,,to give an example,,,,a steak could have 350 grams of proteine,,and thats way to much,,,les protein less amonnia,,thats the idea,,,we are trying to change the brain chemistry, through protein reduction,,how long it takes to do that.rellys on having consistant ,same kind of proteine intake,,

flans 11-09-2011 12:16 PM

meat protein has the highest amount of amonia,,vegetable is of lower quality, proteine.and less amonia,,,,its fairly easy to count your proteine intake,,and do not exceede it,,,,,same meal, same protein content same amonia,,,we seek to lower amonia levels with this diet,,,thats the goal,,,,hope this works for you,,,,as i said,,tn has a cause, somthing is irritating the nerve,,,its just got to be amonia,it has the perfect chemical profile,....a nerve irritant.....

Am I reading this right? 200grams of protein a day is a huge amount. Way above what is recommended for average adults!
Talk about a protein load? This is enormous!
http://exercise.about.com/cs/nutrition/a/protein_2.htm
Quote:

Most experts believe that most people get more than enough protein daily. In fact, some believe the average sedentary American eats about 50% more than the recommended daily amount, which ranges from 40-70 grams each day depending on your gender, age and situation.
That means the average American (US eats alot of protein) consumes about 60-105 grams of protein a day.
I have read many places that 75 is a fairly accurate average for some Americans.

Use this link to calculate the protein you take in:
http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/...roducts/6203/2
This example is for one ounce of typical raw ground hamburger.
4.6 grams of protein/ounce (30 grams).
You can use nutritiondata.self.com to look up lots of foods. Be careful interpreting the results because you must pay attention to the serving size reported.

I would like to also provide the link to the Centers For Disease Control recommended daily protein doses so that we can ensure that accurate information is provided here
http://www.cdc.gov/nutrition/everyon...much%20protein

As can be seen the chart states
Quote:

Recommended Dietary Allowance for Protein
Grams of protein needed each day
Children ages 1 – 3 ....... 13
Children ages 4 – 8 ....... 19
Children ages 9 – 13........ 34
Girls ages 14 – 18 ......... 46
Boys ages 14 – 18 ....... 52
Women ages 19 – 70+..... 46
Men ages 19 – 70+ ....... 56
200 grams of protein a day could seriously harm someone!!! so please, again we caution anyone reading here to check the information for themselves.
