Hi I just came across I.V Lidocaine therapy and wondered if anyone here has any experience with it or knows someone who has. I'm always looking for alternatives to opiates because none of the doctors in my city will prescribe opiates for fear of government backlash due to the opiate addicts out there. Any info would be greatly appreciated my pain level has really went up due to the weather changing.

Robyn, check out the peripheral neuropathy thread and do a search there. I've read quite a few accounts of peoples experiences using this form of therapy(for the lack of a better description) for several conditions involving PN. Good luck!

Thanks and I posted over there now so hopefully I'll get a response. I had been watching a video of the TN conference in California that was back in the spring I think and one of the drs. either Dr. Casey, Dr. Barbaro or Dr. Tew made an off hand comment of doing this type of therapy in their practice when presented with different patient scenarios. Can't remember the patient scenario but I believe it was something along intractable pain and not being able to tolerate any more meds and had had multiple surgeries maybe. I just know the lidocaine caught my ear and I've googled it but not seeing much on it. Hopefully I can get an answer with someone experienced with it

Hi,

I had a lidocaine infusion. My first infusion was a low dose since they want to see if I could tolerate it. I felt some relief immediately but it only lasted a day. Probably because it was such a low dose. I was to be scheduled to return every couple of weeks, except I opted to have surgery. The nurse I spoke with said the clinic had seen lidocaine infusions help quite a few people with TN. The benefits were really seen with ongoing, regular treatments. Hope this helps!
