Has anyone heard of Pre TN? I am wondering if that is what I have. I have pretty much constant ear pain. The neurologist didn't mention anything about it. I found it on the internet.

I have heard of pre t.n. but it is fairly new type of t.n. the docs have named. as if t.n. dose not have enough forms as it is. lol it is supposed early stages of t.n. the symptoms are not as bad or as often. as it progress it will get worse and become t.n. or one of the other types atypical bi lat etc....

I experience some ear pain first. I even had some tooth sensations, tho mild. I started asking questions trying to solve the sourse. I had a ssiter-in-law with an abcessed tooth and was asking how that pain felt, stuff like that. Then came the time I bit down on something a little hotter than usualy and I had my first horryfying hit. No doubt to what it was then. I had already been asking questions from my doctor and dentist so it was goin on for some time before it worked its way up to full steam.

Aw I wish you luck with it all. I hope it never goes further and just stops cold turkey with no further whatevers. Even those are plenty enough distracting and bothersome.

I almost forgot, I also ended up having meneries in ears as well. Now the TN id very painful but it is the meneries with its vertigo and naseau that can stop me moving and doing anything normal until it passes. And the time in past that they both have raised up ugly self at same time, well it was mighty bad on me.

What I hate is all doctors will say is that they are progressive. I remember readin up when it all first started. It said around 40 best I can remember was time most started. I though wow I could have waited much longer. uugh not plesant at all and it did mention women having it more than men, I didn't feel special at all!

All I can say is that the TN association has 8 classifications of TN. Pre TN is not in there (yet?). I think it's just an MD's way of putting a name on something they just don't know. As if that makes it better?

There are any number of conditions that cause facial pain but in the end they are all mostly treated as if it were TN. I think many of us experienced TN for many years and did not look into it or know what it was because it was milder than the TN we face now.
So if they are calling the earlier stages of TN preTN then that's what they are doing. In the end, start treating it like it was TN and perhaps you can prevent it from getting much worse or at least slow down the progression.

Stop using aspartame, MSG, caffeine and all tooth whitening products. Get good sleep even if that means taking an RX or OTC med. Avoid stress as much as possible, eat properly (always my failure) and learn to meditate or relaxing therapies...

I did post something similar to this under title PN leading to TN. I have lower body peripheral neuropathy. I get some of those funny feelings in face like cheek feels bruised, sand in eye. I didn't post about throat feeling tight and ears plugged up. I thought it was coincidence and had nothing to do with TN. I am on gabapentin, Tramadol, and Lidoderm patch.

I can't speak to the other symptoms however I can say that one side effect of Neurontin is a sensation that your throat is closing.

I have had the side effect for many years but it is controllable so I have chose to not change medications,,don't know if that helps I don't have any of the other symptoms you mentioned.

As for Pre TN,,in the end it's still TN and will be treated the same way as confirmed by the meds they have you on. Hope your symptoms do not progress any further. Have they considered Lyrica for the neuropathy?? it was originally created for diabetic patients who were having severe nerve pain in their legs and is similar in composition to Neurontin,,perhaps that might help more. Although not common they can be taken together,, I have been on both for about 6 years and have very good results,,, it's just something to consider talking to your MD about.. wish I had more info to give you

I went to quick care clinic for my sore throat. The PA diagnosed me with thrush. I do have a dry mouth probably from gabapentin.

I stopped Tramadol as it was a most likely culprit for nausea and vomiting.
