Default Mother with Trigeminal Neuralgia

HI,

My mother has trigeminal neuralgia and is on medicines. Last year, she had a radiation treatment done. It was not very successful and a nerve got infected or inflamed. Her spells are farther apart now, but is there any way she could have another treatment done? The balloon treatment would be great. Her medicine helps, but it doesn't stop all the spells. We think the radiation just made it worse.

please help,

LCw

hello and welcome

many members are away from the boards because of the Independence Day holiday tomorrow, but I am sure someone will be along to help with your questions

I dont know much about TN but did just want to say "hello" and hope your mom manages to find effective treatment without the flare ups

New leah,

There are other treatments out there for TN'ers. If you or your Mom haven't done so, you may want to order the book, Striking Back, which is offered through the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association (check the stickies at the top). The book give a lot of insight into the available procedures and the expected outcomes too. Also, has she consulted with a Neurologist or Neursurgeon? The latter of the two would also be an excellent source.

Good luck, EE
