Default Tegretol- Iv made a mistake :(

Hey all Iv been on tegretol for a couple of months now and my TN seemed to go away so I stopped taking the meds. However 3 weeks later its back and I'm in serious pain, today I just didn't think and took my usual dose of 800mg, it never occurred to me that I would need to start off at a low dose and build up again. I'm feeling dizzy and sick like I did at the start anyway my question is, do i need to see a doctor as Iv restarted at 800mg and feel ill with it? Or will it be ok? Also because Iv jumped in at 800mg what dose shall I take 2m? Thank you all, I know it wasn't sensible but I just didn't think at all

My advice would be to ALWAYS check with your doctor and follow instructions! Tegretol is a powerful medicine. It is my understanding that you always need to taper it off, never stop cold turkey. I am not as sure about how to start up again, but I always follow what my neurologist says. And I think I have always built back up after being off it. You can't tell how much you need if you don't. You need enough to stay ahead of the pain. When the pain gets ahead of the level of medicine, it is harder to stop the pain and takes more medicine. Please don't be casual about how you take medicine. And tell your doctor what you have done so he or she can help you the best.
