Default Had TN for 3 years

Hello,

I have had TN for 3 years and have been treated with Tegratol. Things had been going well for about the last year with a dosage of 400MG. Then my pain came roaring back. My dosage was increased to 800mg, but really did not do much for the pain. I decided to try acupuncture.

After 13 week off once a week acupuncture, I have been able to cut back my tegretal to 400mg and am virtually pain free. A couple of twinges toward the end of the week before my acupuncture treatment, but that is it.

Call me crazy but I am now considering surgery MVD, to hopefully correct the problem perminately and get totally off the meds. I know 10 years may be the best I get.

My question is has anyone used acupuncture to control TN and what was the long term success?? Will acupuncture treatment always be required?? If so how often? Where meds still required.? Can acupuncture successfully cure TN?

Thanks for those that reply
