I find myself new to this forum and new to the diagnosis. Although the symptoms may have been present prior to Friday, they were minor compared to what I am going through this past week. Broken jaw feeling, random tooth pain, electric shocks that I cannot explain. Last weekend I was treating my symptoms for what we had hoped were salivary gland stones. My husband is a physician so he had suspected TN right form the start, although he did not disclose this information to me Until Sunday night, I have never heard of TN. So now I understand why he did not want me to go to the on the weekend where specialist are not available, I would have had unnecessary testing/ imaging and most likely be mis-diagnosed. I am a yoga therapist, so deep meditation was a blessing. As I sucked on Jolly Ranchers and Lemon drops I fanaticized about a stone popping out of my cheek and/or under my tongue. I thought how my head was probably a giant abscess and it would pop or I would die with each attack. I wanted to go to the ER but my husband knew pain meds would not touch TN and a misdiagnosis could delay a proper one. Monday I finally made it with only Advil and hard candy (lemon drops are not the miracle cure btw). Monday after the MRI I walked outside and sat on the wall waiting for my oldest and youngest son to find my location. I was sure the tech had seen the worse because he was so nice to me. Sitting on the wall ladybugs surrounded me, I knew even in the worst case scenario, I would be okay. My labs and MRI came back; I was in perfect condition except, I had not eating since Friday so my electrolytes etc.. were off.
It is now Saturday, having immersed myself on information on TN and being treated for the disease: Tegretol, and Advil +hydrocodone as needed. I have also loaded up on CBD and a touch of THC tea. Tegretol is now at 200/mg x2s a day seems to be working but wore off last night which is agony. Now I am on a quest to learn more about CBD combined with traditional medications and deep mediation which others may call self-hypnosis. My current struggle is to not dismiss everyone else. It is hard when anyone, this past week says something like I have a headache or when my 9 year old is complaining of a bump, to not scream "I HAVE THE Most PAINFUL PAIN KNOWN to MAN Mot*er F-er"s!!!! I guess there was a life before last Friday and a life after. I have to find my new equalibrium. I will go to a specialist when I get an appointment, I am 51F. Trying to stay present and breath, Mel |
