Confused new diagnosis

I have been diagnoses with TN recently. I have already failed one med, Trileptal and now am on Tegretol. I am a health care professional so I know the anatomy and physiology of this entity very well unfortunately, and knew the ramifications of this diagnosis.
I can no longer drive a car and I can't work as I am so sedated from the meds. I am considering surgery. Has anyone had experience with Gamma Kniife. I have read the diary of the patient who had the MVD. Has anyone else had MVD or Gamma Knife? Are there any other folks who had to stop working because of this? My whole life just stopped on the day I was diagnosed. I don't know how to get it back!
