Default Trigeminal Neuralgia???

(I originally posted this in the MS forum, but was kindly directed here to some folks who have more experience w/TN.)

I woke up this morning and my left eye was hurtin' like heck! My mind immediately flew to ON; however, after being awake for a little while longer, it's more like my eyelid. Here's what's going on....

~My eye/eyelid hurts when I blink
~The left side of my face along the top of my cheek bone hurts from my ear up to and stopping at the bridge of my nose.
~When I touch the skin anywhere in that area, the pain increases greatly. (It's almost torture to feel the ear piece of my glasses rub over that skin when I put them on.)
~It hurts the skin when the muscles in that area move.
~The skin on that left side is also burning.

So, whadday'all think? Could this be TN? TIA!

sound like you may have either Peripheral Neuropathy or Trigeminal Neuralgia ...
But I am not a doctor and they would be the best ones to figure out what type of pain yours is. Did this just come on over night? any injuries or colds ,sinus infections (eye ear nose),,teeth work done recently? dose a warm cloth help if you can lightly set one on that area??? I am very sorry to learn of your pain and sad you are here but I know you will find some help and support from lots of great folks .
Do you have another "illness" you mentioned m.s. do you have that?
write down everything your notice about the pain and bring to doc... a neuro or pain doc. gather all the info you can on both peripheral and on trigeminal and maybe narrow down the symptoms . there are different types of t.n. and it would be good to look at the threads at top of this page and visit the web sites mentioned they are priceless in the help they provide.
I wish you low pain wishes and fast answers jowen.Keep us posted and dont be afraid to ask things no matter how strange the question might seem.
Peace
BMW

These two happen when I have an attack. Anything like brushing my teeth or smiling can trigger it. It is unmistakable. The pain is intense! Hope you feel better.

The trigger points for my TN vary from attack to attack. Sometimes it is the tip of my nose, other times it is inside my mouth, or even breathing through my nose. The result is always the same - electric shock type pain shooting from that point up to my temple. And for me, it always on the right-hand side.

Try to write a detailed description of every sensation you get and what seems to trigger it and then take that to your doctor.

peace
