Can't Find Anything Posted Re: Occ. Neur. So Thought I Would Start Here. My Daughter Had Her Occiptal Nerve Surgically Cut - Nothing Else Was Easing The Pain But She Still Has Pain 6 Weeks Later. Any Advice, Help, Other's Experiences Would Be Useful. Thanks

Hello Alices. Welcome to neuro talk. Sorry that I cant offer much advice but I do know a fellow memeber here thats has O.N her name is Jaime she dosent post iin here but she did pop in once and post.... under the nerve block thread in here... she posts alot in the creative forum maybe I can catch her and send her your way. I myself have a nerve that is snapped so I am guessing the pain would be very simular to a cut nerve and to that I CAN RELATE . have you looked into weather a nerve block would be a helpful option. being that it is a cut nerve I am wondering if it would help at all. but it is the best I can send to you. I hope to catch Jaime soon and send her in your direction. Very great of you to care about your daughter and be seeking out info and help for her your a awesome mom .God Bless you.
here is what Jaime posted under thread "nerve blocks" in this forum ...
Much PEACE to you and your daughter and family
PEACE
BMW....

Nerve blocks
Nerve blocks for every nerve! (almost!) lol
I didn't see Occipital Nerve block in the list!
I have found the ON block helpful for me.
Hopefully a TN block is helpful to others...
Why can't you have a nerve block, BMW?
Do you have a reaction to them?

Hi, I'm here! lol
Not much time to reply, but yes, I do suffer with Occipital Neuralgia.
But I haven't yet considered having my occipital nerve/s cut, so I can't really help you regarding surgery and post-op expectations. It would be a last option for me, according to my neuro, and I don't need to go that far yet, as my pain is mostly controlled by nerve blocks.
I guess the main suggestion is for her to tell her surgeon that the pain is still there, and hope he listens.

Hi Alices,
There is a neurology forum called "BrainTalkCommunities Online Patient Support Groups for Neurology". This site is almost identical to the one that we are on, but they have a forum specifically for Occipital Neuralgia. I just checked to be sure. Since I am new here, I cannot post a link, but google what is in "quotes" above, and you should be able to find it.
Best of luck, I hope you are able to find the information that you are looking for.

yes possible a good idea to have an o.n. forum here at neuro talk cus there seems to be more people joining who have that and we have some here already with o.n.
I have my trigeminal nerve cut, snapped in two severed from auto accident. that kind of pain is now considered phantom pain. my neuro stim helps by mixing the signal so it dose not go back to my brain saying pain pain. it dose not take away all the pain feeling but the heavy pain is controlled enough so I can have a semi "normal" life now.
I will asks mods about o.n. fourm here at nero maybe they will do a trial run and if there is enough posting we will have one too.
Peace and blessings to you and family

Yes, there is a O.N. forum at B.T., but not much is ever posted there...I guess that's why I mostly stay here...

okay I mentioned to the mods and admins maybe having a O.N. sub forum here at neuro talk.
so we will see. I noticed there have been more people coming here with it more in the new members forum but some in here also. I dont know if there is enough to get a sub forum or not . so all you O.N. people should post if a sub forum appears.
Peace

That's great, thanks for the new forum! I've been away for a few days, (first vacation away on my own in ages...even if it was too short! lol) so, it's my first check-in this week! I'll post in there soon, when I get myself sorted out! lol
