Hi,
I just started taking Trileptal last night and now on my second dose. I feel so drugged! I am afraid that I am not going to adjust to this by monday to go to work. The neuro started me on half a pill every 12 hours (150 mg). This is why I hate taking drugs! But, I'd say if the meds end up working and end my migraine and face pain it will be worth it. My Mother has been on Tegretol for about 25 years and I never think of her as being drugged. She has bipolar disease and it barely keeps her from cleaning my entire house when she visits! LOL I hope that I can tolerate this med the way she tolerates the tegretol. I live on a lake and my family is down on the dock swimming and playing and floating on the rafts. I would love to be taking part but I just don't think I can function. Sorry for the whining. This has me feeling a little depressed. I have been dealing with a headache for so many days now, but I usually just push through and can deal with the way the other medicine makes me feel, even though it only works to take the edge off. Anyway, how long do you think it will take to adjust to the medicine? Thanks, Melissa

I have been noticing throughout the day that I have to work really hard to read letters...I was just trying to read the songs on my iPod and it was hard! I have better than 20/20 vision, despite one bout with optic neuritis a few years ago. I have no symptoms of that...the only thing that has changed is adding this new medicine.
Right now, I have to squint to see what I am doing to type this. What do you think?? Is this normal? I see that it can be a side effect, but will it pass?

I would give it a good couple weeks to adjust and get used to any medication you are just starting to take.
Your Mom has been on it for 25 years so she is well adjusted to it and you probly cant tell she is even on medication. give your body time darling, it has only been a day or two your body has to amp up and such..be patience . I know how much ya want to be on the dock enjoying the outdoors and fun with family .It feels like your a prisioner in some ways because your can do that .but let yourself and body get used to the meds first then you can get out there again. sending you healing thoughts and low low pain wishes to you. Keep us posted on how things go Melissa . PEACE BMW |

Just wanted to say that I seem to be tolerating the Trileptal just fine. I was super worried about getting used to it enough to drive to work this morning (I have a 50 mile commute)...and I came into work and took my medicine and the whole day went just fine! Nice and smooth. I am a worry wart and get myself worked up about these things. But I am thrille to announce that it went well!
By friday I will be upping the dose from 150 mg to 300 mg...I'll let you know how the higher dose works. As for now, I still feel the ache in my face, but it seems to be helping with the headache and the numbness in my hands. That is an added bonus! I see that this forum is kind of slow, not a lot of banter. This must mean that everyone is feeling good these days! Not a bad thing! Melissa

well today BMW is feeling pretty crapy with ugly headache and down in the dumps. I wish I could pull of my ear my eye and the right side of my head and build a new right side out of legos or silly putty. I am stressed out too and that isnt helping. but I am still around to bother and bug you all so all is well i guess.
I am happy you are getting used to the meds and are able to drive to work. good too that you have weekend to up the doseage so you have a day or 2 to adjust to it. You take care and keep us posted. low pain all the way. PEACE BMW |

Everyone's different...I"m glad that the Trileptal is working for you. Personally....it's in my files that I am NOT to take Trileptal or Topamax ever again. Severe reaction to both!!! One to the point of where I fell asleep at the wheel, woke up when right front wheel hit the rumble strip along side of road. That was the last tablet I took.
As for me, I'll stick with my neurontin and elavil for now.
