Hello
I am a male just under 40. I have had atypical TN for over 10 years. I am currently on 225mg Pregabalin twice a day, 200 lamotrigine twice a day and 50mg Amitryptiline once a day. The above feels like a lot and although it is effective, it is only 80% effective and the drugs are so powerful there are other side effects, particularly psychological. I am antisocial, dampened emotions and libido, struggle to concentrate etc. I was wondering what other cocktails of drugs people have used, if you have used similar and then switched to something else that was more effective etc. I tried oxcarbmazapine as number 4 but it make me ill with vertigo and headaches. Its been suggested by my consultant that either a 4th can be added or one of the three can be changed. Im interested what peoples experiences are. p.s. I am due to speak to a consultant about microvascular decompression so not looking for a discussion on surgery, just medication. Many thanks |

Whew.
Those pharmaceuticals appear to be brutal on you. My wife is in her 7th day of unrelenting T N pain, no let up, 24/7 in nature. Did you find any relief from surgery....if you did the surgery? We are just beginning to explore the surgery option. Hazard, I understand, is the polite term....numbness....in the face which is loss of facial control as I see it. Is that cirrect do you think? Nevertheless, eager to know how you are doing and what protocol you are using. Many thanks. |
