Default Question about Optizinc

Hi (especially Mrs. D).

I went on the Internet to see exactly what the recommended dosage of Zinc should be and all I read was "no more than 25 mgs a day".

Well, Optizinc is 30 and it also has copper.

Then I read one should not take Zinc every day.

But!!! I also read that if one is coming down with a cold, one should take zinc and C.

so what the heck is one supposed to do.

Do I take one Optizinc every day? or do I just take it until my cold is over (It's at the end).

I'm really confused. And you mentioned that my sprouts deplete my body of Zinc (I THINK that's what you said, right?) How do sprouts deplete any zinc from the body?. I know that blood pressure meds do this, but SPROUTS??? lol

Thanks much

Melody

veggies contain phytates which can complex zinc from food and make it unavailable.

If you are worried about the OptiZinc, take it every other day.

But you will need more than others because 1) you do not eat shellfish or meat, and you are mostly vegetarian 2) you take lisinopril which depletes zinc.

The copper is in OptiZinc because some people take more than one tablet a day. Pyrolurics do this treatment. When high dose zinc is used every day, copper levels can fall, so they include it in the tablet. It is not terribly significant unless you use more than a tablet a day.
Here is a monograph on copper

this is for zinc:
