A CBC does not check for B12 levels. That is a separate test.

When you get very low for a long time, you can have changes in the blood work. But about 20% of low B12 patients do not show
changes in CBC.

The first change is and increase in MCV ... at very low B12 for years there will be anemia. But many people do not show this
dependably. CBC is measuring red blood cells and white cells only...how many, how large they are, etc. That is all. CBC stands for complete blood count.
