I think it makes them look suspect when they remove posts, etc., from people only because the person posed a question or brought something to light that begged a discussion. I am very disappointed. Until this week, I was a fan of Dr. Mercola. I now have to wonder if he is just the same monster (as, say, big pharma) wrapped up in different paper? Bummer.

Hi
all forums do have rules so you may have unknowingly broken one of theirs. have you contacted them to ask them why? I sure wouldnt wrap dr Mercola into the same category as i do Big Pharma but I became a bit disappointed when his often excellent information became top heavy with commercials. I stopped subscribing to an otherwise really good newsletter. I do think tho he has excellent information on many topics, and is helping to inform a broader sphere of the population by his approach as to their forums, that is an issue you will need to take up with them as only they really know why they may have sanctioned your posting there

Finally, Dr. Mercola claims that his krill oil is from a better source than NKO, but he does not say where or why. We are supposed to take his word for it (like big pharma). The fact remains that in one gram of Dr. Mercola's krill oil, there is less EPA, less DHA, and less Astaxanthin than there is in one gram of the NKO brand. So, how can his be "better"? Maybe his krill came from a more upscale neighborhood in the Antarctic Ocean? |

Back to the krill oil...
I believe that some manufacturers claim that theirs is better absorbed, hence more effect from "less". I really don't know if that is true. Here is the Wiki link on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krill_oil and also About.com: http://altmedicine.about.com/od/herb...a/krilloil.htm The red antioxidant, astaxanthin, appears to be its distinguishing feature. I am still guarded about krill, as overfishing this could impact so many larger ocean species, that it seems like a dangerous thing in these times. And this is what Andrew Weil MD has to say: http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/QAA40023...Krill-Oil.html

In regard to krill being or not being a renewable resource, I have seen arguments for both sides. Personally, I believe it is okay for us to consume it, and I do not feel guilty for doing so. I believe it has the power to help people, who, without it, would be disabled. I believe this quite strongly, because it has worked for me. |

Well, we have been using fish oil for over a decade now, and it has really worked for us.
I have a thread here on EFAs... http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=6092 But I do want to address the antioxidant content of the Krill Oil. There are many antioxidants that are very effective. One is grapeseed extract (similar to pycogenols), green tea, citrus bioflavinoids, quercetin, Lutein, Lycopene, and Yerba Mate. I take an Ester C with bioflavinoids, a multi with lycopene, and I have used (but not now) the Yerba Mate. Now the Yerba Mate comes in capsules for convenience and also a tea. It is very effective for gall bladder problems, and when I used it regularly for almost a year (fixed the sluggish gall bladder nicely), it did remarkable things for my varicose veins in my right leg. Yerba Mate is a tea which is very popular in S. America. I use the green form, which is the organic one, unoxidized during drying. Grapeseed extract is very good for inflammation, and allergies. There is a similar type product on RX, as a medical "food", but it is really just another antioxidant. Limbrel. It is quite costly, and some insurances do not cover it. But the principle on how it works, is very similar to other OTC antioxidants. http://www.limbrel.com/limbrel.php So some of the benefits of the red krill oils may be really due to the astaxanthin that is found it in. And... there might be problems with people who follow the Leviticus diet from the bible. Orthodox Jews cannot partake of shellfish. So Krill oil would be not allowed for them, I would think. Fish oils do not present that problem.

I am so excited. I figured out last night that Dr. Mercola gets his krill oil from a company called AKER. The Swanson vitamin site gets its krill from the exact same source and it is SO MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE. I just ordered 180 capsules, shipped, for $37.56 LESS than Dr. Mercola is charging for the same product. Also, I LOVE Astaxanthin. I buy 60-4mg. capsules from ++ for $9.99. I have taken it for about one year and it makes my skin look awesome. I also do not blotch in the sun. You may like that the Astaxanthin I buy does not come from krill, either . However, I still believe the krill works better than fish oil because of the phospholipids, but I will read your info. Thank-you!

if you go to MegaRed.com you can get a coupon to use in your local pharmacy. My local store normally has good sales, and then I use the coupon on top of it. Many say Costco has sales every 90 days of so, if you use that coupon ontop of their sale, you can really clean up.
I have been studying astaxanthin and I keep bumping into mercola. I was saying on another site that this man bugs me. he is pitching sales figures at me, instead of trying to teach me. Anyone who steps out of the gate pitching hard doesnt get my vote. There are many other makers of many things, I am sure I wont be choosing his products.
