Default Vitamin D

Im on 4000 mg of vitamin D now for 2 years, because I tested consistently poorly. Im wondering if I should stay at this amount of vitamin D.... its been tested but nobody seems to be quick at taking me off. I have chronic pain, im wondering if there are any side effects I should know of with vitamin D.
