N.B. If this is here, please feel free to move it to a more appropriate group. This one seemed closest - YMMV.

The subsidizing and resultant overproduction of corn has led to an enormous industry hell bent on finding new ways to use the by-products.
You'd be amazed to see the extent they have already achieved. One of the most insidious is corn syrup. It's not just a case of sugar or this syrup, it's concerns about the highly technical manufacturing process that corn is subjected to, in particular extremely high temperatures and chemicals. The end result is not a food-it's just a chemical concoction, and who knows what all of these 'food' chemical products (canola is another baddie) will do to us? It's all about selling, and nothing to do with health or well being. Sweeteners of any type are to be avoided, but use honey if you have to. At least it has some benefits.

People will soon be starving their bodies to death by eating all these chemicals. People do not understand. I once a conversation with a man whom thinks himself extremely smart. We were talking about GMO foods and he thinks they are great. I asked him how he can believe something like that and doesn't he realize the same chemicals used to make these products grow bigger and faster will now be in his system too. Nope, not in his mind, can't happen! People just do not think. I do not eat anything with corn sweeteners or sweetners of any kind, other than stevia, which is natural, not chemical.

I'm not being judgmental or taking sides here. It's a personal choice. When I copied the original link from the newsbot forum, my thinking was that the article might be of nutritional interest. It was not my intent to start a political debate. Doc

I don't see any "political debate" here
High fructose corn syrup causes neurological reactions in my son, and digestive reactions for me. Honey and stevia have not caused these same reactions for us, nor has unrefined, turbinado sugar. IMO It is flat out dishonest for them to try to disguise the name to "corn sugar". HFC got a bad name because many people found they were having bad reactions. Changing the name does not suddenly remove the reactions.

The chemicals within our bodies are not the same as the ones used to process foods..the difference is night and day.
I see nothing political either. Quote:

We had another thread here not too long ago concerning the mercury found in some products:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...hlight=mercury There is a rebuttal on Google about this. And it is timely, since the argument is similar to the new one on Dr. Oz where he found arsenic in apple juices. (organic arsenic vs inorganic arsenic) http://www.latimes.com/health/booste...0,350799.story The rebuttal goes on to say, organic mercury is different from non-organic, but today when I click on the same link I clicked on yesterday...the article is GONE. Very strange!

When I searched "mercury high fructose corn syrup"
I got a link....to here... http://www.sweetsurprise.com/index.p...FQGFQAodg1My1g But I could not easily find the mercury one today! The page was replaced by the one currently at the link! Here it is: http://www.sweetsurprise.com/news-an...s/hfcs-mercury I did a secondary search for "mercury sweetsurprise" this time. I'll never figure out how search engines work anyway!
