Smirk vitamins repair cerebellar dysfunction?

Are there any vitamins/minerals that could help repair the cerebellum and hypotonia? Before I was diagnosed with Celiac I started loosing my balance and a bit of muscle tone.

I would look at nutrients in general on this forum. Lots of good information, and you may need to cover a lot of bases, since you have a broader absorption problem.

I would start with B complex, at least 1000 mcg B12 (methylcobalamin form best), and a good multivitamin/mineral. Then I would read about L-carnitine and various other things that can help the brain.

Happy reading.

That is an important thing to remember, along with the fact that those repairs possible can take very long time.

Lightbulb When...

nerves are involved...repair always needs EFAs as well as vitamins.
Essential fatty acids contribute the fats needed to repair the myelin sheath.

Lightbulb Omega-3's are part of the essential fatty acids

Omega-3s in the form of alpha linolenic acid is the essential one.
(we make our own "fish oil long chains EPA and DHA).

Omega-6 linoleic acid is another

There is an omega-9 from olive oil, oleic acid.

This explains it:

You cannot LIVE without these.

Lightbulb

The inherited form of ataxia, is genetic, and you would have to search to see if any new treatments have been discovered.

The only two things I know about so far are:

The gluten free diet--- helps "some" forms of ataxia. No guarantee it will help inherited types.

and high dose CoQ-10 has been used for Friedriech's ataxia in the past. This link shows that some patients who have Friedriech's ataxia may respond to CoQ-10 and Vitamin E.

In Europe they are using a special CoQ-10 called Idebenone:

This you should discuss with your doctor.
