Has anyone tried Chromium Picolinate to aid in losing fat?
I'm at my ideal weight, but still have a little "extra" in my abdomen. I read a popular magazine and the writer said to take 200 -400 mcg of this to get rid of abdominal fat. However, I believe I read in Women's Health that this wasn't accurate. Anyone have any personal experience or know the science related to this? Thanks. |

http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/chromium.asp
and here: http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocente...rals/chromium/ I do not believe claims that chromium will remove fat from any particular area of the body, but it can help those people with insulin resistance and/or diabetes. Physician supervision should be sought for diabetics, since your need for insulin or drugs may change when using chromium.

Years ago I tried some chromium for my blood sugar problems. I remember once taking it on an empty stomach and it seem to make my blood sugar worse. I had a slight headache from my blood sugar seeming to drop. I didn't find it helped me. But now I know I have other deficiencies which have helped my blood sugar.
I don't know if you have a problem with blood sugar but I found Relora helped me with this. I see Relora as the original and Relacore as the copy. Relacore is more expensive than Relora. But these products were advertised for helping with stress eating and belly fat. Some people want to turn to sweets when they get stressed out. I was like that. I don't turn to food now when I get upset. But, I did correct my deficiencies. It is always good to listen to your body. But when women get older, after menopause, they will notice a change in fat distribution. After a certain age women simply gain weight like a man because they are not under the influence of estrogen anymore. So, I'm not sure why you have this fat problem in that one are. It could be stress or it could be your hormones changed. I take zinc and magnesium now which I think can help with blood sugar problems. The zinc I would not recommend you take on your own because that could cause a copper deficiency. But some say that chocolate cravings (for women when they have PMS issues) are really magnesium cravings. I don't think that taking some magnesium on your own would cause any serious mineral imbalances. |
