Default Ubiquinol or Q10 in pregnancy?

Dear all!

I am 15 weeks pregnant, a wonderful fact that is complicated by my multiple health issues that include malabsorption (and aps among other issues, oh the fun!).

I am on a celiac diet since my last batch of results last year came up with positive antibodies and this has helped the malabsorption issues majorly, but now with pregnancy and increased vitamin demands I find myself having some low vitamin issues once more. My high risk pregnancy team has placed me on high dose B1/B2/B6/B7/B9/B12/Zinc and I'm also taking supplemental magnesium and vitamin D.

My question today is the following: one of the things that came up really low on my last batch of tests is coenzyme q10 (came up at 0.1 mcg/mL when the norm is 0.43-1.49 mcg/mL). I had issues with this prior to pregnancy and had been taking supplemental ubiquinol for a few months in an effort to bring the value up a bit, but stopped when I found out I was pregnant as per my doc's instructions. Only now the high risk fetal-maternal specialist is saying maybe I should take it again since the blood level is so low and since I've been having some mildly elevated blood pressure lately (130/85 to 137/100). My issue is that she also said there's been no studies done with co-q10 supplementation before 20 weeks of pregnancy and she can't tell me with certainty if it's safe and/or if ubiquinol or coq10 is safer.

I'm wondering if anyone here has had similar issues or has some information about this issue! I would greatly appreciate any information on this!

Hope this finds everyone well!

Ziggy
