Default How do you get off Statins?

Hi. I'm putting this question here because I honestly don't know where to put it. My friend is a fit 73 year old woman with slightly elevated cholesterol and her doctor put her on lipitor. SHE HATES IT.

She went on the internet and she read all kinds of things and she doesn't know how to get off of it. She asked her doctor can she get off of it and he said 'NO"

So she would like to know what she could take INSTEAD of Lipitor that is a supplement and if she decides to do this, can she do it cold turkey?

Thanks much

Melody
