Default L theanine-It's potential long term curing abilities

Hello everyone,

I’ve been doing a lot of online research around something I’ve been taking for 8 months now. I would like to know others experiences with it.

The name of the supplement is L-theanine. I started taking it due to GABA not being strong enough to treat my anxiety on its own. It was after this point that about 6 months later I realized something. L-theanine has long-term positive effects from what I could tell.

Slowly but surely my mood has improved, my attention span increased, and my anxiety all but been forgotten. Now my weight has begun to drop from the lack of stress in my mind. What I’d like to know from all of you is what anybody who has been taking L theanine long term what its like for them? Has anyone had similar encounters? From what I can tell L theanine could potentially be a possible cure for a lot of my problems however I am not certain due to lack of scientific evidence.

My personal opinion on why a lot of my symptoms of what I’m dealing with are going away is due what is called neuroplasticity. Long term brain changes. I am doing a number of treatments that show signs of Neurogenesis as they call it. You can read about them farther down.

I have actually spoken to a friend that took this and from he said it did similar things to him. He ultimately stopped taking it because after it “cured” his anxiety it started doing the “reverse” and making him very sleepy instead of very awake. Ultimately he and I are both under the same impression. L theanine can long term cure certain illnesses.

What is everyone elses thoughts on this? I admit with full honesty that I cannot prove my statement about L theanine being a curing however this IS my personal experience with it.

This is my primary question that I am focusing however for those who wish to know more about my situation…

I currently take the following supplements.

1. L theanine-700 mg 5 times a day. …This was originally at 400 mg 5 times day for a long time due to not being sure on how much would be ideal to take. Eventually I read about the little information they do have on long-term effects. They said over 1600 mgs a day has long term improved cognition, memory, and mood.
2. Gamma E complex-235 mg a day.
3. Fish Oil- 4800 total mg a day. The fatty acids are at 2800 mg a day.

I take the following for Pharmaceuticals

1. Abilify- 15 mg
2. Strattera- 100mg

For other treatments I use the following.

1. Dialectical Behavioral Therarpy-30 minutes a day.
2. Running/Cardio.

I am diagnosed as follows.
1. Bipolar Disorder.
2. ADHD.
3. Anxiety

Like I said the primary focus on this post is the L theanine. However I’m guessing some people will want to know more to understand what’s going on.

For those who aren’t familiar with neuro plasticity....

Feel free to go to Wikipedia. There's a whole article on it.

Interesting post. This is the first I've heard of anyone taking such high doses. Glad it's helped you. I've taken it before going to the dentist but only about 200 - 400 mg. I'll have to look into higher doses.

I started taking the higher dosage after I saw the initial 5-6 months effects. All I saw was progress and nothing bad happened so I while I didn't know for certain I thought I'd increase as an attempt to improve the symptoms long term more. Which it seems to have done.

Admittedly there is no research long term nor is there any research on higher dosages.

Are there any truly reputable studies for dosages or is it all pretty much guesswork at this point?
