To All,
I am new here. I have multiple health issues that I deal with daily. One of which is a vitamin D deficiency. I was wondering if by chance this could be some of the reason I have so much pain in my muscles. I guess I am hoping to feel better in time and that has not happened. I have also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia among many other health problems. If I have a vitamin loss in my body does that cause the pain,, is it possible that I do not have fibromyalgia? Questions that may not ever get answered. Thanks for listening. Hugs to all. Mary |

Mrs. D just responded to a similar question a few posts down (at the moment).
You probably want to take D3 as this has been shown to work better in the body than others. I personally think being low in Vitamin D might cause muscle aches. Overall, Vit. D helps the body in many, many ways...so you will want to correct this ASAP. What dosage does the doctor want you to take? If he prescribed D2 (ask the pharmacist if you are not sure), you might want to talk with a different doctor for a second opinion. If you are on your own with this, talk with a really good pharmacist about getting on a good brand of D3 and what dosage you should take. My guess is it should be at least 4000 units daily (only a guess). Please follow up on this. It might very well make you feel better and there are lots of studies that indicate D3 is very necessary for our overall health. By the way, if you can tolerate it, a short walk in the morning to get a little sun might also be of help (plus getting the D3 tablets/gel tablets are said to be best) Again, get some D3 and more info....nice chance you will feel better. |

I too have a low D-3 level but it is coming up. My pcp has me on 10, 000 cc a day which is still way in the safe zone. I don't know how many different ways levels are mesured but according to lab my doc uses the green zone (good zone) is 40 to 100. I just in green at 41.
My doctor said to take D-3 with the meal that has the most fat as D-3 is fat soluable. The brand I take is from Metagenics lab mine is 5000 cc per capsule. Their products are made to very strict guidelines and can only be bought at a D octors, dentidt or soke chiroractors offices. |

Sounds ok to me. You will want to be at about 50. (100 is extreme and mostly for MS patients).
You will want to not take much extra calcium with that high D3, as it might clog your arteries. Some doctors suggest no more than 600mg a day of calciium, for safety. Quote:

Last years blood work showed some low D3 and I went on a supplement for several months. That with more sunlight seemed to help.
