Default High copper level in blood

My rheumy did a couple more blood tests because of my neck pain, and copper serum is 208 ( range is 72-166 ), C reactive protein quant is 20.6 ( range 0.0 - 4.9 ) and aldolase is 2.4 ( range 3.3 -10.3 ). My ESR was 22 ( 0-20 ) and my ANA was 25.5 ( 20-60 moderate positive ). I know that my ANA is positive, and I had a cold at the time of blood drawing, so I was expecting the ESR to be elevated too, but what about the rest ? My dr.'s office never called me, their policy is they don't call if the results are normal, so I asked for a copy of the results, and when I saw these abnormal results I called the office right away, but they still didn't return my call ( it's Monday and I called Friday ).
I red that birth control pills can elevate the copper level, and I'm on BCP.

When copper gets high, zinc gets low. Did you have a zinc level done?

That is a high CRP though. You can bring it down with Vit C, to some extent ...

This link is something to think about. There is an association with estrogen therapy and copper levels.

It will be interesting to see what your doctor has to say.

Hi nyuszisue

Elevated CRP is a marker for acute or chronic inflammatory disease.

There is evidence that chronically elevated CRP is also a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

This might be worth discussing with your doctor, especially if you have other risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

I had a sinusitis at the time of lab works could that be a reason for high CRP ?

I think it would take more than that....

I had a root canal done when being retested for CRP, and mine only went up .5. Even that worried my doctor! I had the first test about 3 months earlier and the retest was just after the drilling and temp crown. I felt really bushed then but my retest was by coincidence during that time.

You'll have to see what your doctor thinks. They see more people with various elevations, and perhaps he will just order a retest in 6mons. You can take about 1 gram of Vit C a day and see if that helps it come down.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18952164

A retest would show perhaps if this one test was a laboratory mistake, also.

Even if it's a chronic sinusitis ?
What kind a vit C should I take and when ( empty stomach or with food, etc. )
Thank you !
I have an appointment Friday with the rheumy who ordered the lab tests and then never called with the abnormal results. Probably time to find a new dr.

I use the long acting type... it should say on the bottle.

Vit C is rapidly excreted via the kidneys, so the delayed onset type dissolves more slowly and stays in the body a few hours longer. Divide the dose up over the day too... 500mg in the morning and 500mg at supper. It may work for you.

There is quite a movement now for the liposomal type, which is nano sized emulsion -- the claims are that it is more effective.
But it is more expensive too.
This is one example:

I use the Timed release by Puritan's.
